Fundraising ideas!
19th-Jun-2013 10:40 am
So there's the BPAL sale and there will be a limited-edition letterpress poetry chapbook.

And I am overwhelmed with all the stuff - there are a lot of moving parts in this situation! So I ask you.

What should I be doing for fundraising? What would you buy? What would you sponsor?

I have no money or I'd gladly send you some without incentive. Don't know if you have the spoons for this, but maybe a crowded funded serial? Ask for a certain amount per chapter (or per poem if that works better for you)?

Oh, good idea! I forgot about the auction. 'song, I could contribute a poem or a series of poems for whatever price you think appropriate. I can also do some origami but I don't think that would ship well...

I am also willing to contribute to an auction and have some knitted things lying around.

You have many writer friends. Ask them to auction:

  • A drabble or flash story written to the winner's prompt.

  • A tuckerization.

  • A signed copy of something.

  • A story critique.

Meanwhile, I happen to have some lecture sets from The Great Courses that I was going to auction off on eBay but haven't yet got around to doing it. Each set is on Audio CD in nice cases, 12 or 18 hours of lecture per course, and comes with a paperback course guide. If you like, I can donate them to the cause. They include:

  • Herodotus: The Father of History (Elizabeth Vandiver, Univ. of Maryland).

  • Espionage and Covert Operations: A Global History (Vejas Gabriel Liulevicius, Univ. of Tennessee)

  • Nutrition Made Clear (Roberta Andig, Baylor College of Medicine)

  • Memory and the Human Lifespan (Steve Joordens, Univ. of Toronto Scarborough)

I could make a shiny or two, for this.

Also I'll send you an email, because there is a short thing that I think I need written, and you may have exactly the right skills to write it.

I'll happily donate a 1000-word story to an auction, setting as my novel, scenario prompt from winner.

being pretty broke myself right now, i may not be able to offer much... BUT!
would you permit me to make some "domestic violence awareness" jewelry and put it up on my etsy, with the profit going to you?

i need to make my costs back, but the profit can go toward your fund.... it may help... and it may be publicity that reaches someone else too.

i would need to know what i can share, contact information you want etc...
kirsten.houseknecht at gmail dot com or that name on FB or me here on LJ
i miss a lot of messages which is why i gave you my email

gofundme has a good track record, as does indiegogo... which i have used
