Judah wishes me to communicate that he is temporarily incommunicado! Unfortunately, this is because he discovered that he has diabetes. This discovery was made when he walked into his doctor's office today with a blood glucose level of 500, whereupon he was promptly sent to the ER at Mount Auburn for fear of diabetic ketoacidosis.
There's a long-story version of all of this that hopefully I'll get to write out tomorrow, but for now I'm exhausted, so short version: they haven't managed to stabilize his blood sugar to their liking, and he's still a bit more fragile than they're comfortable with, so they're moving him to the ICU, where they will do things to him all night to make his blood sugar jump around. He's incommunicado because there's a teensy potential theft problem, so the ER doctor had me take his phone and laptop and everything else of value home. (He has books.)
I'll be returning first thing tomorrow, having been given the magic words that will admit me to the ICU at any time. (We like this ER doc.) He may not have wifi, but he'll at least have his phone back then and can respond to e-mails on it. We hope to have him back home tomorrow. I'll keep people updated as best I can.
