The worst of Sandy seems to be over around here. Many people in Watertown lost power, but we didn't; we have some branches down on our street, but not any huge ones. I haven't been outside to assess damage yet.

I actually managed to book a flight for today, to go to Florida for my grandmother's funeral (which is tomorrow). I'm pretty sure it's going to be cancelled, but I had to book it anyway, because Mom really was not understanding the storm situation, and it was easier to book the flight than to keep trying to patiently explain to her. My big hope is that it's cancelled this morning, so I don't have to sit in the airport for hours of delays and *then* have it cancelled.

And that is it with me right now. If the flight isn't cancelled, I'll be in Florida through Monday.

Be careful; if Sandy takes the hard right turn mid-PA that is expected, you might get a second bout with it as it heads north.

When is that expected?

Sometime between 2pm today and 2am tomorrow morning. It's supposed to go west until it hits Altoona (about 2 hours east of Pittsburgh) then turn north, shoot between Buffalo and Rochester NY, and fly over Lake Ontario by 2pm tomorrow.

Good luck in Florida.
