The inaugural issue of Through the Gate is out! My poem "nameless" is in it! "nameless" is an offshoot of my novel-in-progress Cicatrix; it's actually the first thing I wrote in that world. This is the third permutation of the poem.
So apparently everyone who's still on LJ who had yet to add me added me yesterday. Hello, eleven new people! I am usually not so ranty! I am usually that thinky, though.
For new and newish people. Here's who's who, in order of when they entered my life.
Elayna is my awesome 17-year-old daughter.
Adam is my husband; we've been together since 2000 and married since 2004. His LJ name is yendi.
Judah is my other partner (I don't like "boyfriend"; sounds too middle school, and I'm genderqueer so I don't like being assigned the word "girlfriend"); after a years-long flirtation, we started dating in 2010. His LJ name is sindrian.
All four of us live together in a house that is so perfect for us, as of this February. We have two cats, Max and Victoria; we recently lost our middle cat, Jack, so sometimes we get very sad when we tell people we have two cats.
I also have a fish named Betta Ray-Bill. His bowl needs cleaning.
So those posts.
It looks like they've struck a chord and been useful! I'm glad. Some people have said that they'd like to comment but that they didn't want to make it About Them. Personally, I have no problem with that! The things is that we all do this differently, and it's useful and interesting to hear about how people manage their relationships and crises within those relationships. Discussion is good.
Also interesting: I've had fascinating e-mails from a few exes examining stuff that went on in our relationships in the past, particularly things where I was uncomfortable but unable to really articulate why yet; all of these things I posted yesterday have been crystallizing for years. So it was interesting to get that insight into past relationships. I still love and am friends with most of my exes, which makes me happy; obviously if I dated them in the first place I think they're pretty awesome, and I'm glad the transition from partner back to friend has gone smoothly in most cases. (My last PolyDrama was over six years ago, is why I was unprepared for this; I have been good at keeping lions out!)
I have so much to do today that I really should have done yesterday. Edits for a story that will hopefully knock you on your ass next month, continuing to write a story that is far from my usual grimdark... also I might bake honey pumpkin corn muffins. First I have another fun (but not poly-thinky) thing to post here. Then work!
