Happy birthday to norda!
Happy early birthday to sheistheweather, who advances a year over the weekend!
State of the 'Song
Looks like the Symbicort is helping, so yay! Haven't had to use my emergency inhaler since I started it. Which will change with the weather - cold air is an asthma trigger for me. But having a better baseline helps.
All of the stuff going on in my world needs longer posts. Maybe there will be one later today.
Link Soup, Halloween Edition
* Open Letter to the PocaHotties and Indian Warriors this Halloween.
* New pictures of Jenny Lawson's awesome haunted dollhouse.
* Ten amazingly bad retro Halloween costumes. Younger readers, this is really what we had for costumes in the '80s. And the masks smelled terrible.
The Seekim: Cacao absolute, hay, black pepper, patchouli, and incense ash.
In bottle: Dark chocolate, with a kick from the pepper.
On me: Something here goes oddly soapy. Yick. I hope that morphs away...
The Ta-Ta: Boiled leather, carnation blossom, coffee absolute, and tobacco.
In bottle: Smells... clean and airy. Odd.
On me: Oh, there's the leather! Bit of weirdness atop that, the "clean" note, which is not something I associate with the other listed notes. I'm not getting tobacco or coffee at all. :(
There is going to be a huge BPAL sale as soon as I actually go through my BPAL boxes. I have a *lot* to get rid of - I've been hoarding. >.< There will be a bunch of rares! All money raised will go towards Victoria's vet bill.
Electrical implants that shut down excessive activity in brain cells hold great potential for treating epilepsy and chronic pain. Likewise, devices that enhance neurons’ activity may help restore function to people with nerve damage.
Wearing: Flannel penguin pajamas, but I'm about to go shower.
Reading: Aloha From Hell by Richard Kadrey, Cold Magic by Kate Elliott, The Innovator's Cookbook by Steven Johnson.
Writing: Still a secret.
Knitting: I got hung up on the nupps on the Swallowtail Shawl. Reader, I am nuppfucked. Getting help on Sunday.
Planning: Today is writing, hauling the sweaters out of storage, making honey ginger pumpkin butter, and finding something to do for dinner that involves CSA veg and the Italian sausage that must be used today or tomorrow. Tonight is the Civil Wars concert!
Tomorrow is in flux. We're looking for a ride for Elayna so she can get to the Voyagers Teen Event. My evening plans depend on how tired sindrian is after his afternoon building stuff.
Sunday I'm getting the aforementioned knitting help, then the entirety of House Gojirawitziev (me, Adam, Elayna, sindrian, gwynraven) will attend MIT's Macbeth.
