Unable/Lack of spoons
Still dealing with aftereffects of Saturday night's glutening. I can't think straight enough to do creative or organizational work, which is frustrating, but I will nap (again), I will knit the super-basic baby blanket, I will do small things that I can do.

kittycyborg is up! That gorgeous yarn! Custom fairy wings from sihaya09! Bid! And those of you who wanted to put items up in round two, now's the time!

sindrian is flying out to CA today for a two-week visit with his dad and his dad's partner. I am all wistful. I don't want him not to go, I want to go with him (I've met and really like his dad + partner). I don't want him to not have adventures, and he doesn't want me to not have adventures, but we love adventures best when we get to share them. Also, this'll be the longest we've been apart since he moved here, and it's longer than we want to be apart (ticket was a gift, he didn't choose the length of the visit). It will be fine, and getting Elayna back to school and then having writing time will keep me busy. But we are part of each other's Home and thus will be homesick.

And that is all I have the brain to type right now.

Get well soon, I hope! You have strengthened my resolve never to set foot in an Olive Garden again. (The one time I did, in South Attleboro, it was horrid.)

Northern California? That would be my luck, of course.

Could send goodies home with him if not. 9_9

30th-Aug-2011 04:34 pm (UTC) - accidental glutening -- ideas?
First of all, my sympathies!!

Second, I've been researching the hell out of how to avoid/treat accidental glutening in the last couple of weeks as preventative measure. As you've been doing this way longer than I, I was planning on asking if you had any tips for dealing, or any commentary on the strategies I've been accumulating. (All of these are purely anecdotal.)

1. Always take some kind of gluten enzymes (I bought these: http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Gluten-Digest-Enzymes-Vcaps/dp/B003O1TZHQ/) before going out someplace questionable. People say they notice fewer accidental glutenings this way.

2. After being glutened, take aloe juice or slippery elm (I bought slippery elm as that rec came from someone I actually know), which helps heal the intestinal lining faster & is said to be very helpful for GI symptoms. (It clearly looks like you get the neurological ones worse, but a faster healing GI tract should help the neurological sx heal faster by letting you better metabolize the GOOD food that comes after.)

3. Meditation helps. (This is me, in response to forgetting what a roti is made out of. oi. dumb. Helped settle both moods/restlessness and sudden body cramps. not from what I've read online.) But OTOH, meditation is almost always a go to solution for me whenever I feel ick of any variety.

Feel better!!

Sorry to be difficult--do we just comment on the item on which we'd like to bid and thus we have bid? I am seriously ogling those fairy wings.
30th-Aug-2011 05:01 pm (UTC)
Yep! If someone else has already bid, comment in response to their comment.
30th-Aug-2011 05:04 pm (UTC)
I believe you reply to the person who made the previous bid... so they know they've been outbid!

What is that yarn made of? I'm tempted to bid, but only if it's not made of sheep's wool (I'm allergic).

Oh, see? This is my brain not working! It's alpaca/merino. Will edit that in.

I <3 alpaca wool. Too bad about the merino, for my sake. It's such a gorgeous color, so I'm sure there will be plenty of other folks bidding on it :)
