sindrian is napping somewhere in New York.

State of the 'Song
Up at 4:30. That's... a slight improvement? Still danger-zoning.

Story!
"Valentines" is now free to read at Apex! *nod*

Scott Adams, really?
Scott Adams says: "If a lion and a zebra show up at the same watering hole, and the lion kills the zebra, whose fault is that? Maybe you say the lion is at fault for doing the killing. Maybe you say the zebra should have chosen a safer watering hole. But in the end, you probably conclude that both animals acted according to their natures, so no one is to blame...The part that interests me is that society is organized in such a way that the natural instincts of men are shameful and criminal while the natural instincts of women are mostly legal and acceptable."

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW, DILBERT FANS.

For serious, this post is Scott Adams admitting that his instincts are to go around raping people, and society and the womyn are keeping him down. Also apparently we want to chemically castrate him.

If Adam's hadn't gotten rid of all of his Dilbert books last time Adams showed his ass, I would be hosting a damn bonfire. (Earlier post also includes "men are wired for sex and aggression." Man, do I never want to be alone in a room with Scott Adams.)

And once again, when people say that men are wired to rape people, not only is that gender essentialist bullshit, but it does a tremendous disservice to men, implying that they are no more than witless slavering beasts. Once again, most men are not rapists. Men are in charge of our society - if men really were wired to rape people, we would not have laws against it. I could extrapolate the society we would have but I don't want to depress the hell out of you.

Ugh. Yeah. BARCC blog post forthcoming, apparently.

With a new printing technique, researchers can now make enough metamaterials to begin fabricating invisibility cloaks and superlenses.

Plans
Work. Afternoon plans depend on whether sindrian arrives in time to pick me up from work. Also whether my fellow volunteers are cool doing a tabling without me - sindrian's only shot at unloading his trailer at the storage place is now the same time as said tabling. (Please help unload stuff! See earlier post!) No evening plans save curling up with my sindrian. We have a hard time just not being in physical contact with each other, so after a six-month absence? You can imagine.

BATMAN BEYOND was a great show. The spinoff, ZETA PROJECT, was also pretty good, but not as good at BATMAN BEYOND.

Batman Beyond's only downside was that it was too short of a run.

The (unintentionally) hilarious thing about Scott Adams is that he thinks he's being this devil's-advocate-playing deep thinker, but he just comes off like the schmuck of all the world.

In case there was any doubt that Scott Adams is a fay-fay-duh-pee-yen...(Firefly fans, go look it up), he's now removed it decisively.

We have a hard time just not being in physical contact with each other, so after a six-month absence? You can imagine.

Oh, yeah. Don't be shocked if it plays a game or two with you. Did with me, briefly. (I got over it :-D)

It's been almost a year since I've seen my partners, so I can imagine, and I'm thrilled for you!

Massive sympathy! It was going to be nine months for us. So glad it ended up being six!

I'm very happy for you and sindrian that you are both in the same town again! I did the long-distance relationship thing for 3 years and it sucks.

Regarding the ongoing sleep-dep... there are a number of non-pharmaceutical substances out there that might help you get back to sleep when you wake up gods-awful early, like chamomile tea and valerian. I don't know if these things can be safely taken with the Lunesta and anti-seizure meds, but it might be worth trying if they are.

Wow that sounds rather preachy, which was not my intention. Sorries.

That's true too - the messages of Masculinity can be oppressive too!

(As you know, I am *only* interested in intelligent people, no matter the gender.)

Now if we can only put Scott Adams in the pink pony world with Rorschak...
16th-Jun-2011 02:30 pm (UTC)
I actually thought that Adams couldn't act out any worse. I am truly impressed.

Also apparently we want to chemically castrate him.

I'll admit, the thought *did* cross my mind, but only after reading that quote.

Sorry lovebirds:

Also, I now like to think that everyone Dr. Manhattan zapped wasn't killed, just teleported to PonyLand.

I love you too. Damn, there's a lot of clever here this morning.

Also apparently we want to chemically castrate him.

Well we didn't *before*. Now is another story. Hmmph.

Re the geek girl article: Man, I have never been intimidated by a girl's intelligence (its hard for me to really be attracted to a woman who isn't intelligent). I also always wished a girl I liked would come up to ask me out instead of it having to be the other way around, lol. That was pretty gutsy of the author to do at 14.

I am amazed that mothers give that kind of advice to their daughters. Technically i guess guys could be intimidated by ANY trait a girl has (or people in general can be intimidated by traits of anyone), yet we only hear it said about things like intelligence, or outgoingness. Plenty of guys are intimidated by beauty, but women never get the message not to be beautify, yet they do get the message to not be intelligent.

When the whole 'girls are told not to be smart' thing comes up, I am always reminded of in HS in honors math class Dineen on occasion would say "Oh, im not smart enough to do this" and me and Umar would tell her 'yes you are. shut up and just do it.' lol. I never got back then why she would say that about herself when she was so obviously smart and good at math (she graduated 2nd in our class of 1000).

Also, that gluten free goddess blog looks amazing. Have you made her recipes before? Are they actually as good as they look?

I haven't yet, but look forward to experimenting with sindrian! In all kinds of ways, but! he cooks.
