State of the 'Song
A week of rain makes a 'song achy. Just sayin'.

The ongoing purge
16 bags, 4 boxes, and a wooden rack/plastic bin set are downstairs awaiting charity pickup! The reading room has never been cleaner. (Note: reading room is still not clean.) I drafted Elayna into helping with The Haulening. Next up, we go through our books and pull stuff for library donation!

This is all-the-issues-hit-at-once time. One ambushed me last night and continued through this morning; an unrelated one continues to creep in its steady pace day by day, and I foresee a Meeting about that one. *eyes the Issues* And since the issues are sucking up huge chunks of time, I've no time to write, which is how I process. This makes for a cranky me.

* Psychology Today posted a terrible article (since removed) entitled "Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women?” WHAT THE WHAT. Here's a screencap. karnythia is but one of the people with a great post on the topic.
* Flashpoint is actually doing some interesting things.
* A thousand times this.

Daily Science
In basic research with far-reaching impact, cell biologists Wei-Lih Lee and Steven Markus report in an article released today in Developmental Cell, with videos, that they have solved one of the fundamental questions in stem cell division: How dynein, the cell’s two-part, nano-scale "mitotic motor," positions itself to direct the dividing process.

Work, please writing today PLEASE, and Elayna's spring concert tonight.

Texas close to banning TSA searches, TSA invents desperate new constitutional interpretations.

Much as I'd like to see someone tell the TSA to get lost, I can't see what's desperate about their interpretation of the constitution. Where both are applicable, federal law generally overrides state law, doesn't it? McCulloch v. Maryland and all that?

This. If Texas gets away with this, what's to stop them from deciding that us immigration law doesn't apply (see AZ, or any other law? Hell, theyve already pretty much shat on the first amendment in their schools.

But I rather like the idea of some state saying to the Feds, "No, you can't deport these people. We say they belong here."

This is what happens when a formerly respectable magazine like Psychology Today apparently turns itself into a blogging platform and discontinues editorial control.

I really truly want to stab people who do bad psychology research and then get to publish it. Really truly.

This guy didn't even do any research, he just badly interpreted an aspect of other research that wasn't even ABOUT this. Laaaazy.

That should take you to a piece called Domestic Goddess Commission. I thought of you. :)
