Odin's Day
4th-May-2011 07:14 am
40 days.

Happy birthday to rivenwanderer and trochai!

State of the 'Song
Yesterday was an ill-health day, but I am cautiously optimistic about today. Even though I woke before sunrise.

The mad chaos of April is over, but my body is still recovering from it all. May is fairly packed with everything I was able to put off from April. On the plus side, this means the time will fly til sindrian's return. Minus side? Still really busy.

But this month is less full than last month, and so I can pace myself a bit better. I'm keeping a close eye on myself so I don't get aggressively overscheduled. (My schedule Monday was a terrible idea!)

Goals this month = a lot of Little Things (seamstress, doctor, et cetera), a bunch of Work Things (but not as much as last month, thank goodness), and significant progress on the next Shayara book. As well as all the house stuff that needs to be done before sindrian's return.

Link Soup
* In Adam's words, if you read only one article about gamification, read this one.
* Somerville is getting a TEDx. Um, I need to make an audition tape.
* Gender roles in fairy tales in historical context. Really interesting stuff.
* Radar see-through-wall backpack. Huh.
* A bookstore with one book.

Daily Science
Research findings published today in the journal Science by Dr David Sansom and his team in the MRC Centre for Immune Regulation at Birmingham show how a protein, called CTLA-4, keeps the immune system damped down during day-to-day activities and prevents inappropriate aggressive behaviour from T cells, the ‘command centre of our immune response’.

Work. Writing WTD, finally. Maybe rest? I don't have plans tonight, so yeah, probably rest.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

You MUST make an audition tape! (If I can help, holler.)

Rest is a good idea.

I think I remember the concept.

The fairy tale thing is interesting. I had always learned that the shift was tied more to economic freedom and education changes, but fertility control also makes sense. (And these three are almost always intertwined.)
