Thor's Day

State of the 'song
I really need to remember: one drink if not actively dancing. Two drinks only if actively dancing.

Two drinks in fairly rapid succession when not dancing is not a good idea! (For me. I'm not judging you.) Oof. If I had a sick day to use, I would hie my ass back to bed.

Was good to be out and social and raise a glass and talk a bit about irana.

Irana
I'm finding it hard to write today. I feel like I want to do up an essay about irana, but everything she was couldn't be encompassed in one essay.

So I will say this: I think about her just about every day.

There are a lot of people in my brainspace, so not everyone gets a significant amount of airtime! But irana. She was my sister, we were each others' muses, we were each others' sole support in a way I still won't disclose because some secrets we keep forever. I have a few people I call my sisters, and I carry each of them with me that way. Just a little dedicated headspace.

Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh!" he whispered.

"Yes, Piglet?"

"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."

A little thought of grace every day, for my sisters, my loves, the people of my heart; just a touch that I know you can't feel, but I can. A little bit of thankfulness that I have you.

Like I said, not everyone gets as big a headspace as irana! But she was big, big in voice and laugh and self.

And a year later, it's rare that a day goes by without a thought of her, even as simple as "irana would love that song."

irana, you are gone, but your spark remains. Because I know I'm not the only one. I see people posting on your Facebook wall all the time, little things just like this. Because you were/are so loved. We keep you with us, by now in thought alone. We keep a little bit of you not-gone in our hearts.

One year.

EDIT: What I wrote last year.

Daily Science
(No Link Soup today, because my workday was weird yesterday and I hadn't much time at home.)
It appears that the supposed oldest examples of life on our planet -- 3.5 billion-year-old bacteria fossils found in Australian rock called Apex Chert -- are nothing more than tiny gaps in the rock that are packed with minerals.

Plans
Work. FINALLY HAIRCUT. Then s00j and omnisti arrive yay!
