Oh, and.

Seeing as everyone in the local geek community is getting knocked up these days, I should specify: My awesome "everything is changing even faster whee!" is in no way related to that. I remain unimpregnated!

That is all.

For now.

I started to say "Well that's good to know!" and then I thought "Is that good to know?". So, is it?

It's not bad to know.

The real answer is "it's complicated", as maternity-related things often are. Would I like another baby? Yes. Would it be a good idea, given my health issues? No. Does that make me stop being wistful? No. But I've been doing my best to focus on all the cool stuff I get to do after Elayna's ensconced in college.

Makes sense. I long ago decided that children aren't for me, for reasons of health and practicality and inclination, but that doesn't stop me from occasionally looking at the babies and small kids that come through the museum and thinking, "Man I wish I had one of those."

There is SO MUCH GOOD when one is not defaulting to parenting.

I love my kid- but it was GREAT to have my life back. :)

I am selfishly glad because this means I do not have to modify my ploddingly slow fiber arts queue yet--but I would:)

Ha! Yeah, if I ever did spawn again, that baby would have no shortage of knitted things.

Every time my period starts, I turn to my husband and tell him that once again he has successfully failed to impregnate me. And then we celebrate briefly before I limp to the couch.

*likes, like on Facebook*

I'm sure he enjoyed failing. :-)

I've lucked out in that the only people I've ever asked "So, are you pregnant?" were couples who were hopeful of it and didn't mind my asking. I think I got the question out of my system before I asked it of someone who'd be hurt by the asking of it. I know not to even joke about it, unless I know the person really well.

There is a lot of pregnancy going around in the Minneapolis geek community as well. Possibly the side product of a particularly bitter winter.
