Small Plates in Harvard Square.

I have spoken of the Best Steak Evar before (rare, cooked in coffee grounds with a mocha glaze, atop a root vegetable mash). Both Adam and I got the steak because dude.

Here's what else we got:

* The best chorizo & onions evar.
* Amazing tomato cognac soup with fried leeks.
* Sweet potato and beet salad with chevre and blackcurrant dressing.
* Wild mushrooms with garlic.
* House-cured salmon gravlax with limoncello sour cream and a latke.

And for dessert, he had the White Chocolate & Fig Bread Pudding with Southern Wild Turkey Sauce, and I had the Kahlua Creme Caramel.

And we just. NOM. You guys.

“Who is to say that ‘bigger is better’? I’ve often wondered that. Can you not fit more kumquats in a jar than you could, say, spools of twine? Flavors are similar. Give me small plates any day & an extraordinary bottle of wine and I will be happy forever.”
--Nanthida Bernardeau, 1946

Yes. Yes yes. Perfect small plates of intense savory lusciousness. Perfect, impeccable food. This is my favorite place.

How much is an average meal there? I seem to be hanging around Harvard Square a lot lately, after all.

Sidenote: what is your favorite used bookstore for selection and price in Boston? I need a fix.

This meal was a little under $100 before tip, but we got a lot of food, plus wine. Menu's here.

There are used bookstores on every corner, pretty much! I like McIntyre & Moore, which is in Porter Square now. There are a bunch in Harvard Square. And the Harvard Bookstore has a big used/remaindered section in the basement.

Just to update what 'song said, they also have a "Happy Tappy Hour" from 5-6 on weekdays where they offer a limited menu in which each dish is $5. But no dish is more than about $11, with some as cheap as $5 (including the chorizo and onions) anyway.

If you ever come out to Seattle, you need to come try Poppy. http://poppyseattle.com/thali.html

That looks amazing. I love tapas (Dali is one of our favorite places to go for double dates with our best friends) so will definitely have to check it out.

I gained about a pound and a half just reading this post, thanks a lot! Seriously, White Chocolate & Fig Bread Pudding with Southern Wild Turkey Sauce?

Wild Turkey, as in, the whisky?
