Happy birthday to the mighty mightywombat!
State of the 'Song
Lonely. With Adam in California and Elayna in Connecticut, I am both lonely and unmoored in time; Elayna gets home at 3 and Adam gets home at 5:30 and I Tetris chunks of my day around those times. I don't quite know what to do with myself. Yesterday I buckled down and Did Chores. It was a parade of unending obligation and upfuckery that drove me half-mad. Four hours of desperately trying to upload Blogathon auction item pics... neither LJ Scrapbook nor Picasa is doing it for me, and I'm pretty sure it's my connection speed, which is like dialup sometimes. A call was placed to Verizon some time ago, and they need to be poked again, because this can't go on. Especially with Blogathon coming up. And if I can't get pics uploaded today, I need to drive somewhere with a solid connection to do it, which is a pain in my ass and steals my writing time.
Also I apparently can't copy/paste to my auction database.
Yeah, yesterday sucked.
Jessica Walter should just play everyone's grandma ever. I just love Jessica Walter. (Yes, I watch Make It or Break It. It has gymnastics. Shush.)
To trap and hold tiny microparticles, engineers at Harvard have "put a ring on it," using a silicon-based circular resonator to confine particles stably for up to several minutes.
Is this the first time PhysOrg has quoted Beyonce? I think probably. But they may have once posted about whether we are ready for this jelly.
Banned in Boston: Obscene, lewd, lascivious, and decidedly objectionable. A filthy, post-coitus scent: sweaty and sweet, laced with laudanum, splashed with booze, and stained by tobacco.
In bottle: Mostly sweet booziness; I swear there's a leather note there.
On me: Sweet and a hint of tobacco and leather and yum.
Work. I will try to upload the pics, but I'm not going to spend four hours trying again. I need to work on the story I was supposed to be working on yesterday, dammit. After that, reviews of Mischief and Clockwork Phoenix 3 and a comprehensive Blogathon post.
