* This is Elayna's last day in Israel; she flies back here tonight our time/tomorrow morning her time, and we'll be picking her up at South Station at 1, yay!

* My sister is doing okay-ish. Not ill enough to merit a return to the hospital, but definitely not up for any level of activity; she's propped up on the couch for the next howeverlong. It'll be at least a month before her body returns to normal. (She will learn patience.)

* Adam's CPAP has been delivered. Thankfully, it is not a hideous noisy thing like I remember CPAPs being. Yay advances in technology!

* The house is looking exceptionally clean for right now. With Elayna returning tomorrow, I don't expect that to last! But it's nice for now. Also, I've been cleaning up in her room in fits and starts, and significant progress has been made, if very gradually.

* My final Readercon schedule has Moar Stuff on it. o.O I have a lot of stuff going on, apparently.

* Those of you who've been here for Thanksgiving can testify that this really is what cooking looks like in our house.

* I may get to go out tonight after all. That will be nice. <3 Rest is the better part of valor.

* Things I want and cannot afford right now: Sundara silk lace in "To Behold" for the Eiffel Tower shawl. *plaintive sigh* Almost all of my knitting this year has been charity or gift knitting, and I'm feeling deprived.

* Bonus Random BPAL Reviews!
Kyoto: A gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise.
In imp: *koff* Wow. Something deeply noxious. The cherry is like cough medicine. Something *very* medicinal here, and starchy, and strong.
On me: Ummno. Pass.

Dirty: A fresh, crisp white linen scent: perfectly clean, perfectly breezy.
In imp: Definitely crisp and light. Something here is a little bit floral, but not obnoxiously so.
On me: Same. It's not bad, but it isn't me, especially as the floral asserts itself.

Haunted: A mournful, poignant scent, thick with foreboding. Soft golden amber darkened with a touch of murky black musk.
In imp: The amber note always smells thick and liquid to me; it smells like honey feels.
On me: So it's that, but darker. And - it goes from there straight to baby powder.

Old Scratch: A lavender fougere with tonka, amber, rosewood and a whiff of diabolical patchouli
In imp: Does what it says on the tin. Mostly lavender.
On me: The tonka and patchouli give it a bit of a base, but it's still mostly lavender. Which is pretty, but does not make be go oooooh.

* Icon request for marajs! She would like an icon of the Doctor wearing the fez.

* Elayna's lawsuit against the driver who hit her in October is wrapping up, to the tune of $10,000 for her college fund. *decisive nod*
3rd-Jul-2010 03:56 pm (UTC) - Wow.
That's a good chunk of college money. I'm glad it's wrapping up.

Me too. And glad we had the lawyer; I'm sure we got more than we would've otherwise, and it saved us so much time we would've had to spend pursuing everything! That $10K is net, after lawyer fees and everything.

Looking at my post, I'm laughing because I'm like "I want the yarn and cannot has!" and also "And we're getting $10K", but that money is very specifically for Elayna, and not a penny for us. She's the one who got hit by a car; it's her payout, and college is pricey, even with the partial tuition reimbursement if she goes where Adam works.

*nod* And part of the judge approving the agreement is that the money will be going into a 529, not a yarn store. :-)

And yeah, the lawyer made this about as painless as could be.

I *think* that's not technically part of it now, but it once was? Either way, it's absolutely Elayna's money and not ours!

Sundara silk lace is one of the most amazing yarns I've ever touched. I have a skein that I haven't worked up the nerve to use yet - I just take it down and pet it every now and then.

I've yet to knit anything with laceweight, but that shawl needs it, and I think it'd be gorgeous in that color. *wistful sigh*

I have some Sundara sport silk that I keep petting.

Eiffel Tower Shawl love! That is *so* going in my Rav queue.....thanks!

Really gorgeous and unique pattern! I'm twitchy because I want to start it, but I haven't the proper yarn.

I was in Paris a few weeks ago for a romantic before-the-storm weekend and this is perfect to commemorate it! And I now know what the glorious laceweight a friend hand dyed for me wants to be! :D

Actually, tell you what....I'm in the process of opening a knitting cafe. I'll send you a link when I'm up and running so you can see if any of the European yarns appeal (although I'm not stocking anything French, alas!) and I'll send you a skein. :D

Yep, Thanksgiving around 3 p.m. or so. You do realize that we need to make something with popcorn now, right?

Your mention of the cherry cough syrup of Kyoto made me vividly recall why I no longer even sniff BPAL imps: I had the worst, most miserably protracted allergic reaction I've ever had to a BPAL with cherry scent in. Augh.

Sounds like amber doesn't work well on you. Have no fear, I'll take all that nasty amber off your hands.... :)

and yay, end of lawsuit! (I hatez paperwork & bureaucracy, therefore I assume everyone else finds 'em miserable too.) And yay college fund!

Oooh. That's a nice chunk of college money!

Was scrolling through your posts looking for something specific, and realized that I had not read the BPAL reviews.

If you still have the Kyoto, I'd like to buy it from you for Bryanna.
