A benefit of Jessa's story being told in present tense - the reader gets to see things that I couldn't show in past tense, because Jessa herself does not get to remember. (Unlike "My Empire for Ashes", Jessa's still-untitled story is first-person. She's more... direct and immediate than the Telenias.)

And I do hope people pick up on that thing, and all of the other little things pointing to a particular character being far more than what they seem to be...
