Happy early birthday to malluna, wren13, kradical, and theano, who advance a year over the weekend!

Hello to new reader shadowedge613!

Ugh. My bags? Too heavy. My shoulders? Really feeling it today. Also exhausted from getting in after midnight. Will slog through today, then hardcore nap.

Gojirawitz Girls Challenge!
Thank you to those who've donated to the Explo Fund! Remember to tell us what items/characters/plot twists you want inserted. E-mail me! Future sponsors, just put that in the "notes" field when you PayPal. Story will start on Monday!

I need to photograph my BPAL sale box to put it up for auction. And something knitted. Remember, e-mail me if you want to put something up!

Writing Time
Did not get any, as my netbook slides around my lap like a slidey thing and jumps at every pothole. I tried for a few minutes, but death grip and occasionally typing two letters is not workable for me.

Fortunately, Adam and Elayna are both busy out of the house tomorrow...

Attended "Informed Strategies for working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQQ) Trauma Victims. Is your organization and services LGBTQQ inclusive?", "Why Are More Men Not Involved in the Anti-Violence Movement and Can We Change That?", and "Using Art to Change our Narratives". First one was very good, second had a few points of fail (if you follow me on Twitter, you got my tiny tantrum in realtime), and third was... totally off-topic. Overall good, though, and I have much to talk and think about. And blog about, on the BARCC blog!

SANE got level funding! No cut! Woohoo! Your budget advocacy last year totally worked, guys. Thank you so much.

I don't know what the line item for rape crisis centers looks like; we'll see when I get into the office.

Link Soupless
I have been away from my computer for two days. Pants are bankrupt. What did I miss?

Friday Memeage
Wearing: Jeans, purple shirt with random colorful buttons on the collar, Andrea Scher beaded necklace, sihaya09 earrings.
Reading: The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman, because I finished the exceptional The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemison on the way up and I'd read everything else swashbucklr owned. Also reading Hella Nation by Evan Wright.
Writing: Worked a bit on the rewrite of the Katrina scene, and will get that - and anything else I have time for in tomorrow's four hours - done.
Knitting: Sunny yellow baby blanket. All the random strangers on the bus to work love this color.
Today, work, paying bills, nap, date night with Mark.
Tomorrow, writing and general home stuff; have to get Elayna to Festival of LARPs, but am otherwise free. Friend's party in the evening.
Sunday, my first burlesque class! SCARY SCARY.

I really liked The World Is Flat and have recommended it to a bunch of people.

Did I mention my lack of surprise that you'd already read just about everything else? :)

For the sliding laptop while traveling, I've seen people have great success with a folded towel for padding, plus some of the non-skid rubber mesh type matting that is often used in kitchen drawers, sold nearby to the contact paper most of the time. Relatively inexpensive. But no one can prevent potholes, sadly.

I don't have enough brain to make comments, but I do have enough to give links:

A chat with the kid who inspired the painting "Batman Vs. Shark with Lightsaber."

And Andrew Zubko, the artist, also did a painting based on people's requests.

I'm so sorry.

Sorry to hear about your friend. My cousin has lupus, so those jokes are not funny for me

Wearing: sleeveless purple V-neck with gold beads things along the neckline, army-green ankle-length skirt, pretty pretty cream-colored crochet-like sweater with colorful flowers on it from J. Jill, amethyst necklace my Mom made
Reading: The Island of the Mighty, which is the 4th Branch of The Mabinogian. I'm reading the whole tetralogy, and finding it fascinating and engaging. Although the grammatical errors in the edition I'm reading by Evageline Walton make me twitch.
Writing: a really uninspiring report for work. Shoot me now.
Crafting: I haven't touched my cross-stitch project in ages due to moving. Sigh. I am feeling the itch to get back to that.
Planning: Tonight - date night with Boyfriend Dave! We're going out for Thai, then possibly stopping by at the local Irish pub for a drink with my friend to celebrate his release from his much-hated job, maybe a movie?, then crashing at my place.
Tomorrow - Boyfriend Dave and I are going up to Baltimore to wander around the Inner Harbor and/or Fell's Point for lunch and photography.
Sunday - more unpacking, errands, etc.

Wearing: jeans, self-rescuing princess tee, glasses
Reading: The Dance of Fear by Harriet Lerner, PhD
Writing: BPAL sales post
Crocheting: Star-shaped afghan for niece #2, by request in pink, purple, white, and green.
Today: drop off papers to broker, lunch date #2 with cute girl :), clean/pack bedroom, coworker massage tonight, go to bed early!
Tomorrow: cover 8-6 shift for coworker, fall over when I get home. Guessing that exbf will not be returning from Sweden due to Iceland's spewing ash issue, so must continue with cat-sitting duties before getting home for falling over.
Sunday: work from 11-8, pack a few boxes
