Happy early birthday to penmage and aussie_nyc, who advance a year over the weekend!

Hello to new reader evila!

Still weak and shaky and out of it. Worse than yesterday morning, but not as bad as last night.

My mother had better not give me shit about the messy house, is all I've got to say.

Yes, parents arrive at 2. And will be here through Tuesday. I am not thrilled. But hey, they're here for Elayna's birthday (which is Monday). I can deal with it every so often. It's just that it seems dreadfully unfair that I have to deal with it when I'm sick.

Yay, a new story by ogre_san!

Daily Science
In what could be the ultimate marine smack-down, great white sharks off the California coast may be migrating 1,600 miles west to do battle with creatures that rival their star power: giant squids. It's not every day you see a headline that could be on PhysOrg or a SyFy Original Movie.

Friday Memeage
Wearing: Trailer-park flamingo pajamas.
Reading: Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde.
Writing: I've gotten some Shayara snippets out.
Knitting: Scarf for Mom; pattern adapted from recent baby blanket.
Planning: More bed rest. And - parental visit. We'll see how this goes.

*Where* did you get said flamingo pjs?

This I shall have to investigate!

I first read that as "sad flamingo." Sad Flamingo needs to be a band.

And, all the Daily Science makes me think is MEGA SHARK VERSUS GIANT OCTOPUS!!!

I so need to move that movie up on my Netflix queue, now.

It made me think of the guy who wrote Meg. Hee.

(Intentionally choosing my most violent icon, because, dude, SHARKS FIGHTING SQUID. It's not a caressing-embrace thing!)

Reading: A book on medicinal herbs and native plants.
Writing: A few stories.
Planning: Sleep, sanity and writing. And gardening.

Trailer-park flamingo pajamas are full of awesome. Are there actual trailers, or just lonely flamingos?

Now that your brain seems to be settling down... have you ever considered a tape recorder for capturing fevered dreams that might constitiute healthy plot bunnies, but which you can't capture in the written sense due to brain fog? It seems to me that even when your fingers aren't lucid that you still out think the average bear. Fever dreams can be THE BOMB and they might have value. YMMV.

Looks like the Sharks and the Jets are getting ready to rumble!

Planning how to make a 130 mile round trip on public transport so I can get a rescue kitty into a no-kill shelter... and hoping that they believe me when I say I've home-brewed a potential treatment for the tumour on her shoulder. [seriously, bio-hacker with a science degree here.. it's not just snake oil!] I really hope they'll keep her treatment going, and she finds a home.

I'd love to keep her, but we can't afford her medical bills, and she's FIV so there's a risk to our other cats....

Umm, yeah, that's kinda occupying most of my head-space right now...

Hoping that things went as well as could be expected, and that Elayna has a great birthday.
