Alice: World of my own
Nyargh. Google and Fandango don't have any movie times or locations listed at all for Friday.

So. With some digging. The only theater Adam can find in the greater Boston area that isn't showing Alice in 3D (which my brain doesn't process) in the Somerville Theater in Davis Square.

Showtimes are 5:00, 7:30, 10:00. I vote for 7:30, and maybe dinner at Namaskar first. Thoughts, o Friday 'songparty attendees?

Oh, hooray for no 3D! I can process it, but it makes my eyes twitchy. Count me in.

What's Namaskar? (I may have to bow out on that part. Depends what I hear from trowa_barton.)

Indian. I'm open to non-Indian, but Namaskar tends to be a popular choice and can seat large parties with no trouble... I can't do the ever-popular Redbones, as they outright refuse to commit to anything they serve being gluten-free (when asked, they say maybe, maybe not). I could do Pulse Cafe (new vegetarian place), or Zing Pizza or Stone Hearth Pizza in Porter, if Indian doesn't work.

I adore Indian. It's more a matter of whether I'll be getting in on time, and whether I'll be doing dinner after instead.

It's probably smart of Redbones not to commit to anything being gluten-free, as the potential for cross-contamination given their menu and the nature of restaurant kitchens strikes me as awfully high. They'd probably need a dedicated fryer and small grill.

*nods* It's just annoying that they won't just say their stuff isn't GF. "Maybe" is a weird answer.

(Speaking of dedicated fryers and the lack thereof, oh how I miss sweet potato fries!)

But yay Indian!

7:30 looks good?

7:30 for movie is eminently doable.

"Maybe" is about like I've had to explain nut-free in former baking environments: we can promise you that we did not PUT any nuts into this product ON PURPOSE, but we cannot be 100% sure that no fragment of nut has made its way into the batter, as they get used in this kitchen, and there might be a Stray Crumb.

Crud. We'd be arriving in town somewhen in the middle of all this. Get in touch, please?

I was just about to comment something to the effect of this. You guys could meet at the theater....

I didn't realize Alice was in 3D.

I think the only thing I dislike more than watching a movie in 3D is hearing how this 3D is worlds better than ancient 3D (I would hope it is, you know, progress and all that) and how, because of that, it will miraculously be detectable as 3D by me (I can see an improvement in quality, but so sorry, still no 3D, so it's still just an annoyance).

I'll have to pass on Namaskar, but keep me apprised of showtimes!

Interesting. I've heard tell of you weird and wacky folk who don't process the 3D, but I've never talked to anyone about it.

So does the movie just look entirely normal to you? Or is there some funkiness that makes it appear peculiar, but not 3D?

Makes me all nauseated and headachey. :(
2nd-Mar-2010 03:54 am (UTC)
Oh, yuck. Yeah, I can see how maybe paying extra for the privilege of being nauseous and in pain might not appeal...

Looks like K and F have made other plans for Friday evening - which is ok. F has actually been invited by a peer to something...I highly encouraged her to go! K was extremely torn between this and having also been invited out with a friend.

They, on the other hand, will be joining for other 'songparty activities :)

I am imminently more flexible - just hope nothing breaks with work.

I can't see in 3d either!! And, of course, you know I'm in.
2nd-Mar-2010 04:26 am (UTC)
I may be up for this -- it's my neighborhood, after all.
2nd-Mar-2010 06:11 am (UTC) - *hugs*
I sympathize. I don't think I should watch a movie in 3D either. If they're only available that way, I'll stay home, which for some movies would suck.

Happy birthday!

Hmm. And I guess without glasses the movie's all blurry, isn't it?

(Also, I love when my icons are in context!)
