Life with 'song and Elayna
22nd-Jan-2010 03:53 pm
Everyone here is a crazy person.
Elayna: "I just found out there's a Voyagers Teen Event tonight! Can I go?"
Me: "If you find a ride. Mark and I are going to a show in Waltham. ...actually, if you don't find a ride, you could come with us."
Elayna: "What kind of show?"
Me: "Commedia dell'arte."
Elayna: "Which is?"
Me: *long explanation of the history of commedia dell'arte*
Elayna: *blink* *blink*
Me: "...16th-century Italian LARPing."
Elayna: "Ohhh."

CONSIDER IT. For reals. It is.

EDIT: Life with 'song, Elayna, and Max

Max: *tries to insert head into bag of Lesser Evil Krinkle Sticks Potato Snacks*
Me: "Max, noooo. You do not want. They're terrible."
Elayna: "No, Max."
Max: *attempts again*
Me & Elayna: "Maaaax. No."
Me, picking up bag and brandishing it at Elayna: "Try one."
Elayna: "What? No."
Me: "C'mon. You're young and resilient."
Elayna: *takes bag and reads the back* "Stop. Bad snacking."
Me: "I don't think they meant it like that. You are inserting punctuation."
Elayna: "I am reading it as a warning. Lesser Evil. That means it's still evil, you know."

"Stop. Bad Snacking"

that is a media musketeer of the 21st century, with an extraordinarily acute (survival!) sense of when she's being spun.

Nice one!

I'm excited that there is a group doing commedia! I might have to make a trip to see that sometime!

The correct way to describe Commedia to teenagers is "16th Century Italian Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

I've always thought of Commedia as "Three's Company Meets Curb Your Enthusiasm in Venice".
