The drawbridge right outside DeLand got stuck in the up position. This apparently required techs from several hours away. And eight hours. Sitting. And waiting.
It did not take long for the train to run out of booze. Yes. We were on the drunken redneck train. For eight hours. HILARITY ENSUED.
Thank all available gods that a) I had my knitting (15 rows on the Travelling Woman shawl, now named Lady Vagabond), b) we travel with lots of books (but now we need more for the plane), c) Elayna had her Nintendo DS. So aside from impatience and hunger and the annoyance of not getting any damn information, we made it through okay.
They had to hand-crank the bridge down.
We're in DeLand now. But basically, we lost an entire afternoon and evening. I am not sanguine about this.
