Max is a very particular cat. When he's done eating, he likes to cover his plate with, well, whatever he can find. A fallen napkin, a magazine subscription card. It's his way of saying "I'm done now, thank you."

quite refined ;)

Just for fun... you should make some cat tarot cards for him and let him choose which one to use to cover his dish... you never know! LOL

My Willow cat occasionally "reads" for us. The Faeries Oracle is her deck of choice and in the right mood, she will either paw out cards or cheek rub them out of you hand. She is amazingly accurate... when she wants to be... after all, she IS a cat ;)

Well, you probably know cats bury uneaten food in the wild.

But, here? i think Max has trained you to
recognize when his food needs a refill, even without looking in the bowl. ;)

Nah, he gets wet food on a set schedule only. More likely he's telling the other two to keep their noses out of it in case he wants to come back. :)

Oh, wasn't sure if there were other cats...

Ok, that makes sense :)

We've taken care of them a few times when the Gojirawitz household is out of town, and I can attest that the other two beasts will circle Max while he's daintily eating his wet food, hoping that he'll leave some that they could pounce. It's hilarious.

It sounds like the cat equivalent of crumpling the napkins to signal for the tab. Except there is no tab, since you should be paying him for deigning to eat, since he's a cat.

That officially beats Luna covering her bowl with one of my husband's dress shirts.

Maybe you should get him a box of paper napkins, and leave one next to his bowl for his use...[it'd save cleaning cat food off things at least.]

That is too damned cute!

Maybe this is his way of asking for more fish?
