Peachy keen, baby. Peachy keen.
So I'm walking home from the library this morning, listening to my iPod (thanks, coffeehouse!). "Suck My Kiss" by Red Hot Chili Peppers is playing. I grab a No Parking sign to lever myself up onto the raised sidewalk -
And I spin. Once, twice, thrice. I realize what I'm doing - this is a song I used to dance to at Glitter Gulch. This is a pole. Heh.
I hook my right leg around the pole on the third spin and fling myself into a full backbend, ponytail whipping back, right arm raised - I was a ballerina before I was a stripper. I slide into a crouch, sweep my right leg in a semicircle, and rise. Check to be sure no one saw that. And proceed home, giggling.
Anyone going to ComicCon?
If so, willing to pick up the Kingdom of Loathing giveaways for me, Adam, and feste_sylvain?
What you should be doing tomorrow, if you live in New York
upstart_crow is reading at KGB tomorrow! I would go if I could. You should go in my stead.
team_tim is taking commissions. I heartily recommend him. Samples of his character work on Shayara: Halloran, Kieran, and Katrina.
Potential Alzheimer's vaccine.
GWYNETH: Rose otto, tonka, orchid, Calla lily, skin musk, coconut, and Spanish sage.
In bottle: Floral fug + coconut.
On me: Coconut with some floral fug. Very summer-on-the-island.
INEZ: Golden amber, vanilla musk, myrrh, cedar, carnation, and red sandalwood.
In bottle: Amber sweetened by vanilla and myrrh.
On me: Lickably sweet. This is delicious without being foody. Cedar wafts in, sandalwood tailing in its wake.
MARCILLA: Blue lilac, lily of the valley, golden musk, beeswax, white ginger, bergamot, green tea, and nectarine.
In bottle: The musk and tea keep this from being WAGH FLORAL.
On me: Weird. The tea note usually doesn't make it to my skin at all, but on this, it does - maybe because it's green tea rather than black? Anyway, tea and ginger (flower, not spice).
MARIANNE: Red musk, bergamot, black currant, mimosa, orchid, patchouli, and lotus root.
In bottle: Ungh. That went straight to sex. The red musk keeps the patchouli from being dirty-hippie.
On me: Lots of throw! Red musk asserts itself, sitting on patchouli's face. No lotus, sadly. Ditto black currant.
PARTHENOPE: Honeysuckle, orris, moss, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, and star jasmine.
In bottle: Sweet honeysuckle, sharp benzoin.
On me: Oooh, hey, there's the orris and moss. Interesting combo.
I got a lot done already today! Booked my flight to Louisiana. All BPAL sales sent out, along with Mom's birthday gift and a few other things. Library, check. Dropped off prescriptions. Hit the bank. Treated myself to oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. Oatmeal's still good for you, right?
Plans. I ought to devote today to writing. Dinner out tonight with Adam. :)
