Odin's Day

Administration
Happy birthday to jet_li_wannabe!

Happy early birthday to those who'll advance a year while I'm at WisCon: laurelian, moniqueleigh, norilana, oldmotherchaos, sweetmmeblue, and thedigitalkuri!

Hello to new readers the_resa and rachel_swirsky!

Medical
I'm fighting off fatigue and moderate allodynia. Not allowed to flare. Not til I get back, at least.

Small medical grousing about the season finale of House

Okay. Myoclonic jerk = not a rare neurological symptom. Chances are you do it every night before you fall asleep. (That sort's called a hypnic jerk, too.) But even as a neurological thing...I do it several times a day, and my doctors are thoroughly unconcerned. It's just not a House-diagnosis-level symptom.

And they called what he had a complex partial seizure. Noooo. I accept that people are confused that the terminology is changing - they're shifting from petit mal/grand mal to simple partial/complex partial/tonic-clonic. So maybe the writers wanted to express a mild grand mal seizure and figured that "complex partial" was the way to go. No. House had a grand mal/tonic-clonic seizure. How do we know? Because he flailed. You don't do that during a complex partial. To all outward appearances, a person having a complex partial is just spaced out, sometimes frozen in place.

Other than that, I quite enjoyed the episode.

Meeeep.
Got all my meds, the phone, the Kindle, the iPod. Know that I need several changes of swirly skirts, apparently, and a cardigan. And corset. Um. What else?

Shayara
Since I have to leave the house at like 4 AM tomorrow and may not have net access til late afternoon, I may post tomorrow's Shayara today.

Shayara Planning
I've had several offers of sorting-through-content-management-systems and creating fan organizations and stuff. I totally appreciate this, but it's not time for that yet. My litany during this madness was, after all, "I just want to write!" So I need to just write, and we'll fit the site to the story instead of fitting the story to the site. If you want to help with any of the not-writing stuff - tech, art, design, distribution, marketing, all of that - please join teamshayara! I would love your help -I just can't focus on it yet.

Basically,I'm taking the rest of the month off. I'm workshopping Places You Haunt on Friday, and will likely spend next week reevaluating that. June's Wind Tunnel Dream might be a PYH thing, if it takes my brain back over the way I think it will. I'll resume Shayara and PYH in June, if my writerbrain allows. Depending on the schedules of potential Shayara artists, you may start getting chapters this fall.

Daily Science
Although the universe contains billions of galaxies, only a small amount of its matter is locked up in these behemoths. Most of the universe's matter that was cooked up during and just after the Big Bang must be found elsewhere.

Now, in an extensive search of the relatively recent, local universe, University of Colorado at Boulder astronomers said they have definitively found about half of the missing normal matter, called baryons, in the spaces between the galaxies. This important component of the universe is known as the intergalactic medium and it extends essentially throughout all of space, from just outside our Milky Way galaxy to the most distant regions of space observed by astronomers.

The questions "where have the local baryons gone, and what are their properties?" are being answered with greater certainty than ever before. "We think we are seeing the strands of a web-like structure that forms the backbone of the universe," said CU-Boulder Professor Mike Shull.

Daily BPAL

Frederic the Leapling: Chypre sloshed with a mix of bay rum, patchouli, amber musk, dark woods, tea rose, and red currant.
In bottle: Bay rum, patchouli - vetiver? Totally boy perfume.
On me: Yeah, stinky boy pirate, with the red currant going to plastic. :(

Beltane: Mugwort, French rose, Lily of the Valley, broom, frankincense, myrrh, benzoin, foxglove, woodruff, rowan wood, ivy, sandalwood, spring mint, thyme, iris, copal, and night blooming jasmine.
In bottle: Oh hai floral! A sweetness beneath, though, and the mint follows.
On me: Mint and thyme swim up, but are then shoved down by attention-hogging jasmine. Pardon me - JASMINE.

Worm Moon: mold-crusted dirt, decomposing organic matter, coffin wood, drooping funeral flowers, congealed blood, gloomy lunar oils, cuckoo flower, and a gruesome burst of overripe red fruits.
In bottle: Oooh, dirt!
On me: Dirt dirt dirt. *is happy* Little floral, though, so I can be happy with just my decant (and my imps of Zombi) and do not require a bottle.

Dragon Moon: dragon's blood resin, galbanum, blue sage, lavender, peppermint, sweetgrass, frankincense, moonglow magnolia, bergamot, and green cedar.
In bottle: Ooooh, sage! Sage and lavender and resins!
On me: The resins form a bed for the plants to smolder on. Lovely.

Plans
Um. Do everything I have to do before WisCon. *wince* Critique, review, pack, pack, pack. Go to library and pharmacy. Run around like a chicken with my head cut off. Anxious 'song is anxious.
