Hello to new readers freyapax, shy_kat, and talon!
Surprisingly okay. I got very sore and achy last night...feel restored this morning, though. And that was the longest I'll have to be in a car this entire trip.
Wind Tunnel Dreams
Thanks to new sponsors Rachel S., hypnagogie, samhenderson, i_descend, jnanacandra, malindalarose, Sarah Y., Erik A., puddock, wispfox, australian_joe, pbristow, ysabel, azhure, Toni S., Andrea J., gows, and katster, I'm now up to $1456.50. Wow. Almost covers all of Max's work. Substantial work in helping to dig us out of this financial hole (we're now clinging to the edge with our fingertips, rather than looking up at it longingly).
I miss doing them. I'm a little adrift. This trip helps with that; I'm not sitting at home going "Which prompt should I work from today? ...oh yeah..."
Something I can't do in LJ-poll format, because there are too many choices: Which stories were your favorites? And answer please this open statement: I want to know what happens to ___________.
And... I submitted something for the first time ever. The poem. *bites lower lip* The market has a response time of three to six months, so I won't hear for a while. In the meantime, I shall string the jewel-queens' stories together and see what needs to be done to them - if anything - to make them publication-ready, then submit them... but your guidance will help me pick what to work on after that. It's been great, this project. I've actually earned money with my writing for pretty much the first time. But I need to do it for real, and I need to do it consistently.
Orphan's Tales Tour
Tonight we'll be at the Coffee and Tea Room at 217 West 4th St, Williamsport PA. Please please please come on down! This venue has room for the art. And it would suck if we spent an hour hauling out and setting up amazing stuff like Elayna's boxes, jnanacandra's painting, rosefox's steel net, kythryne's necklace, ktempest's prayer-beads-plus-story, zoethe's amazing quilt, and many more, and no one showed up to admire and bid.
Quote of the Day
Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question. This question is one that only a very old man asks. My benefactor told me about it once when I was young, but my blood was too vigorous for me to understand it then. Now I do understand it. I will tell you what it is: Does this path have a heart? All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. They are paths going through the bush, or into the bush. In my own life I could say I have traversed long, long paths, but I am not anywhere. My benefactor's question has meaning now. Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't, the path is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn't. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you.
HarperCollins Children’s Books has acquired a new novel from Diana Wynne Jones. House of Many Ways, a sequel to Howl’s Moving Castle (1986), and Castle in the Air (1990), will be published in June 2008. It is set a few years on in the neighbouring mountainous kingdom of High Norland.
Even after more than a year of maintaining a normalized body weight, young women who recovered from anorexia nervosa show vastly different patterns of brain activity compared to similar women without the eating disorder, Walter H. Kaye, M.D., professor of psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and colleagues report in the December issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry.
Shower, edit, write my Arisia bio and pick my panels. Everything else depends on when s00j and omnisti get back here, and when catvalente wakes up...
And tonight, another show!
There is nothing like looking into s00j and Cat's eyes as we all belt out the chorus to "Shipful of Monsters"... "We're sisters and shipmates whatever may come."
