* Remember the steampunk keyboard mod? Now there's a steampunk monitor mod. I tell you, I would love this forever.

* Per KRAD, there's a campaign to save Veronica Mars by sending the CW's Dawn Ostroff Mars bars. The nifty part? Amazon's providing free shipping for this. :)

* Via Kebechet - Ken as a Winkie Guard. With a winged monkey. That's almost enough to get me back into Barbie collecting! (Yes, I have Collectible Barbies. (Yes, I still want to sell them.))

* Pierre Cardin has a summer house shaped like a pile of bubbles. Who knew?

* Dear LJ: Thank you for expanding the viewable range of tags from 100 to 1,000. Now people really *can* read a decent chunk of my Shayara tidbits by following the character tags!

* More "Mama wants":
Gorgeous lingerie. Pretty and cute and retro.

Daily Science
A freshwater crab haunts the ruins of Trajan's Forum in Rome late last month. The Roman crabs—of the species Potamon fluviatile—were discovered in in 1997. Recent findings from an ongoing genetic study suggest the animals may have been around for more than a thousand years before the ancient complex was completed, around A.D. 112. Researchers came to that conclusion after the discovery that the crabs' genes are remarkably similar to those of Greek crabs. "So it's very likely that they were introduced by the Greeks 2,500 or 3,000 years ago, which means they were here even before Rome was founded in 753 B.C.," zoologist Massimiliano Scalici, of the University of Rome III, told the AFP news service.

The Six-Petaled Lotus.
The unconscious, the sweetness of life, desire, pleasure, sexuality, procreation, emotion.

Swadhisthana is the manifestation of passion, the reconciliation, balance and union of the masculine and feminine within ourselves.
In Swadhisthana, we learn to give and receive pleasure. It is the stimulation of the life force, the basis for life itself, and our force on the physical plane.
In this chakra, our samskaras are cloistered, and in this chakra they find expression.
Because of the highly sexual identification of this chakra, many find its temptations and trials very difficult to overcome.

In bottle: Dragon's blood? Resins? Is that jasmine?

On me: Floral, but with a dusky undertone.

Friday memage!
Wearing: Black yoga pants and red BPAL "skeletal librarian" shirt.

Reading: Yentl's Revenge: The Next Wave of Jewish Feminism, edited by Danya Ruttenberg. Next up, quite appropriately, is Crazybusy: Overstretched, Overbooked, and About To Snap! Strategies for Handling Your Fast-Paced Life, by Edward Hallowell.

Elayna is Reading: Fly on the Wall, by E. Lockhart; she plans to work her way through the rest of Lockhart's stuff next. She would also like you to know that Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief, which she devoured earlier this week, is awesome. And it actually is, and was a great way to get her hooked on mythology.

Writing: Background stuff for the Shayara website. (Mouse is working on that clickable map. I'm ready when she's ready!)

Planning: I still don't know. And that drives me crazy.
Friday: Today, I mostl know. Curves, doctor, bunch of errands, then a date with the Craftsman tonight. Elayna *might* be doing her community service tonight.
Saturday: Or she might be doing it Saturday morning. If she is, we're just dropping her off, because Saturday brunch is our last chance to hang out with felisdemens before she returns to the depths of Florida. And then again, Elayna's community service might be tomorrow afternoon. I. Don't. Know. If we have a choice, I'd request tonight, just because it doesn't conflict with any whole-family plans. But she waited til the last minute, so she may be stuck with whatever they can give her. Ain't the end of the school year fun?
Sunday: ayalanya, I think we have time then, if you're still up for it.
