It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.
silme, tell me this isn't actually happening!
I'm sorry. Just like your right to swing your fist ends at my face, your right to believe whatever crazyass thing you want stops when this shit starts happening - when fact, when history starts getting edited. No. You do not get to have a selective memory when it comes to attempted genocide.
Holocaust denial isn't a belief. It's a fucking mental disorder.
And religion doesn't belong in the classroom. I know there are people who'll disagree with me on that, but that's how I feel. When you bring religious politics into a classroom, you're crossing a line - you're teaching kids that Religion X is more important than Religion Y, and that veers dangerously close to proselytizing, in my opinion.
And this? This is teaching kids that respecting one religion's fringe belief is more important than teaching the truth. This isn't one religion versus another, where nothing can be proven. This is one whacked-out belief against history. Against fact.
Fuck that shit. Right in the ear.
