Finally got e-mail from my birthmom, safe in Pensacola, FL.
The subject line: "Homeless?"
And in the body of the e-mail, "Don't know if I have anything in Slidell or not yet..."
And at least she's alive. Thank the gods she's alive. But seeing my birthmom wonder if she's homeless...
Here's a story about Slidell from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Quote: "Slidell, a sleepy town about 30 miles north of New Orleans on the shores of Lake Ponchartrain, was one of the hardest-hit areas." Look at the pictures of some of these cities. If Slidell, which I haven't seen pics of yet, was one of the hardest-hit areas...
What if my birthmom doesn't have a house? How long will it take them to build new houses? What will the people who had no flood insurance, no homeowner's insurance, do?
My birthmom works in the oil industry, in New Orleans. Is her offce still standing? Is their equipment still functional? When will my birthmom next get a paycheck?
What will she do?
What will any, all, of these people do?
