My boss wants me to see if I can stay til 1:00 instead of leaving at noon. Which I can try. I left at 12:30 today simply because I was in the middle of a project.
I don't particularly want to stay any longer than I do, in large part because there really isn't enough work to keep me busy, and I hate trying to look busy.
The reason for this, anyway, is because my department chair and another professor have complained that the work-study students that sit at my desk after I leave are, well, useless. *shrug* Yeah, they are. They know how to direct phone calls, how to get the mail, how to run errands. They don't know how to do my job, y'know? So. The professors want more of me. Goody for me, huh?
I'll see. I'll do what I can. I'll still be officially 20 hours a week, so if I'm not feeling well and really do need to leave at noon, I can. But if I'm feeling well, and extra five hours of pay a week would be handy.
The work I don't get paid for
I am feeling really work-resistant right now, both on writing my 2HC column and on doing a calendar page. I am cranky because of not feeling well.
The subject matter of my column has led me to send a brief e-mail to my Dear Editor telling him to gird his loins. And no, it's not the "Tolkein sucks" column.
Unrelated to work
I want docorion to wake up. St00pid time zones.
