I love this book.

"Each Care Bear represented a particular emotion, though there weren't any Care Bears assigned to Insouciance, Lust, or Psychosis. Like empathic vampires, the Bears scoured the world for little children from whom they could suckle, operating with the cover story that they were just trying to 'help' the kids learn about their emotions. The poor kids were hypnotized into accepting this supposed assistance. (Any kid in full possession of his faculties would certainly have run screaming if a pastel-colored bear suddenly materialized and offered to help him feel love.) On their home ground, the Care Bears pursued a queasily authoritarian existence, living in total conformity while practicing for eventual world conqest with regular drills like 'tummy symbol practice'. They had a regular foe called No Heart. We were rooting for him."
