Her: "They only told us about the spelling bee and gave us the list of words on Tuesday!"
Me: "Then no one has any advantage over you."
Lots of "It's okay" and "just do your best" this week. And my advice: "If you're stuck, just close your eyes and picture the word printed on the page of a book."
She didn't participate in the spelling bee last year; too scared. But this year she wants to. It's just intimidating for her. "What if I don't win?" "Then maybe you win next year."
I will have butterflies in my tummy all day...
EDIT: Called the school; the bee is at 1:30, and yes, parents are welcome.
