To-do List

Friday

Administration
Happy early birthday to kradical, ktempest, rfreebern, and theano, who advance a year over the weekend!

Medical
Meh. I keep getting hit with the bitchslap of exhaustion. I've been losing half of my days to it. Literally. I start out with the best of intentions, then the brainfog haze sets in, then the heavy fatigue. Ugh.

LJ Layout
I would love a layout that incorporates this art. Also want shiralipkin.com redesigned with that.

I'm restless. I want to change things.

Things I Covet
* These yarns.
* Nerd merit badges: I've earned Been Boinged and Homonym!
* Cool skirts.

Link Soup
* We Are Hunted: "the Online Music Chart. We aggregate social networks, forums, music blogs, Torrents, P2P Networks and Twitter to develop a daily chart of the 99 most popular songs online." Discover new music!
* Song in my head right now: "So Human" by Lady Sovereign.
* Florida announces first solar-powered city.

Daily Science
A drug commonly used to treat heroin addiction appears to ease the symptoms of fibromyalgia, a poorly understood but potentially debilitating condition that affects up to 12 million people in the U.S. (4 percent of the population), a small pilot study has found.

!!! Want.

One Person can Make a Difference

Oi! Massachusetts folks!

We need your help now

***ACTION ALERT***

Please make a call, and pass this along …

What has happened: As you may know, the House of Representatives released their budget yesterday. In that budget, rape crisis centers, domestic violence programs, specific services to GLBT and immigrant victims of violence, and batterers intervention services were drastically reduced. Representative Driscoll is sponsoring an amendment to restore these funds to the current levels. As you will see below some Representatives have already signed on but we need more!

What you can do today and tomorrow: Call or email your House Representative and ask them to sign on to the amendment sponsored by Representative Driscoll. Ask your representative to email Andrew Hoglund at Representative Driscoll’s office, Andrew.Hoglund@state.ma.us.

If you don’t know who your representative is, go to: http://www.barcc.org/active/speak-out/legislative to find out.

This is the Amendment that you will be asking your Representative to add their name to:

· Mr. Driscoll of Braintree, Mr. Dwyer of Woburn, Ms. Grant of Beverly, Ms. Gregoire of Marlboro, Mr. Lantigua of Lawrence, Mr. Patrick of Falmouth, Ms. Provost of Somerville, Mr. Swan of Springfield and Mr. Walsh of Dorchester move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4800-1400 by striking out the figure $20,832,710 and inserting in place thereof the figure $23,500,000.

Walsh of Dorchester move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 4513-1130 by striking out the figure $4,058,264 and inserting in place thereof the figure $6,400,000.

Tell them why these essential services should NOT be reduced when 1:4 women and 1:33 men will experience sexual violence in their lifetimes, let them know why you care. Ask your representative to sign on today by emailing Andrew Hoglund at Representative Driscoll’s office, Andrew.Hoglund@state.ma.us. If your Representative has already signed on, thank them!

Thank you so much for your help!

...fuck.

Hey, y'know how one of the things hanging over my head was not knowing if Elayna was going to get a scholarship for Explo?

Now I know.

She's not.

I'd love to know why not. But hey.

*deep breath*

So. Raising $5K in a month and a half. I will do my best. Will sell BPAL, will auction a copy or two of my chapbook - what else would you like to see auctioned off/done?

The WTD book should be on the presses as we speak; soon as I get a final invoice from the printer for that, I'll know how much money I already have. That will be helpfully.

If you'll excuse me, I must now go call my mother and beg. But if you think of anything that you personally would pay for, do let me know. I am very open to suggestion.
Yo I'll solve it

Gauging interest

Auction-item suggestion from saraphina_marie: "Celebrity" lunch/coffee with me.

Because my scarcest resource is my time, after all, and - especially at cons - it's damn hard to get a chunk of it.

I'll be at WisCon, Readercon, and PiCon. Would anyone going to those cons be interested in bidding on lunch with me?
Elayna - Oct08

Next week. All week.

The second annual Gojirawitz Girls Challenge. Me and Elayna, head to head, spinning stories of myth and magic, to raise money for Explo.

Suggest topics below. If you sponsor us, we have to use your suggestion! So if there's something you really want... *rattles tip jar*

(Thank you all for your offers of auction/raffle items! I need to sit down with Adam and figure out how to do this without making myself crazy like I did last year. Require some assistance on the organizational front. We'll work it out. So stay tuned for raffles/auctions of stories and jewelry, baked goods and services, and... anything we can think of!)
