Daily Science
Carbon dioxide, a potential fingerprint of life, has been discovered for the first time in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting another star....the planet, HD 189733b, is too hot to be habitable. But the discovery nonetheless has scientists excited, because carbon dioxide is one of four chemicals that life can generate, so being able to detect it shows that astronomers have the ability to find the signs of life on other worlds.

"This is the first detection of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet, which means that three of the Big Four biomarkers for habitable/inhabited worlds have now been seen: water, methane, and now carbon dioxide," explained Alan Boss, a planet-formation theorist at the Carnegie Institution of Washington who was not involved in the finding. "The only one that has not yet been detected is oxygen/ozone."

Plans
Ack busy. And I've not had time to do the Alanna storybit yet. I must do grocery shopping - running to do that soon as I finish this post. Today's my hair appointment, then Gwyn and I will wander 'round the town like the Crow Girls we are, until it i time for Diesel, where we will pick up the turkey. :) (And thank goodness the PayPal transfer from last week's Wind Tunnel Dreams hit. Whew.)
Boondock/can't believe

A weirdness.

At Diesel tonight, I had what appeared to be the beginnings of an anaphylactic reaction. Weird thing? I hadn't had anything that could have set it off; I hadn't had anything to drink for over an hour, and hadn't eaten in four.

So. Tingling, starting with the mouth and spreading outward over my face; them numbness (not total). Was flushed. And a little weakness, scattery thoughts. This lasted for about... 20 minutes? Then it subsided gradually... and came back about ten minutes later, but worse, with my lower lip feeling like it had been shot full of Novocaine. :(

Aaaand then it went away.

o.O

I seem to remember the face-flushed-and-tingly thing being one of the side effects of Trileptal. But that didn't come with numbness. And, well, I've been off Trileptal for two years now.

o.O

Also I have had a lower-right-eyelid tic for two days, but that's probably unrelated. Just setting it down for the record.

feste_sylvain suggested that tonight's thing might have been triggered by me hugging someone who'd been using a soy-based body product, but yeesh, I hope not, as that would be an all-new sensitivity. Like, an order of magnitude.

I am discomfited.

...on the bright side, my hair looks great.
