Body Count - by sforzie

Sunday snapshot

Sitting cross-legged on my office chair, working on both computers at once, desktop and laptop, like Tori Amos on her Bosendorfer and harpsichord, straddling the bench. Still in my pajamas. Still achy. Hair pulled into a high ponytail. Got some tidying done, and got Adam and Elayna to do some, too.

Drowning in the to-do list. Need to write this stuff down.

Woke up at 4somethingAM. Lunesta gives me pretty much exactly 6 hours of sleep, which is nowhere near enough. Must talk to my doctor about that. Ambien gave me more sleep, but knocked me out the whole following day, and I can't afford that. I lay in bed, motionless, cat-surrounded, storylines wheeling in my head, tangents springing off...

I am making necklaces for my characters. Capri and Julia, to be specific. Yes, there will be pictures, once we buy a new battery for our camera.

I'm serious about that to-do list.

Zucchini Pancakes (recipe from one of Adam's food blogs)

Y'know, like potato pancakes. But with zucchini.

3/4 Lb zucchini (about 1 medium)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1/4 cup finely chopped scallions (optional)
Salt and pepper
Sunflower seed or canola oil for frying
Grate zucchini on the large holes of a box grater (or using a food processor). Squeeze it in handfuls over a sink and move to a bowl.
Add flour, egg, scallions, and a generous amount of salt and pepper. Mix well and taste for salt. Since the batter contains raw egg, it's best to cook a little piece before tasting to be on the safe side, but if you've ever eaten unbaked brownie or chocolate chip cookie batter, this is no more dangerous.Set a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add enough oil to make a coating 1/8 inch thick. When oil is hot (moves as easily as water when you tilt a pan), add the batter a spoonful at a time (each spoonful makes one pancake). Cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip the pancakes and cook until golden brown on the other side, about 2 minutes. Remove to a plate lined with paper towel and repeat with the rest of the batter adding more oil as necessary. Serve immediately with sour cream, yogurt, or plain.

I really wish I had a camera right now.... we have fresh veggies spread all over our kitchen counter. Elayna and I just shelled a bunch of peas.

For posterity, the roster of veggies:
Zucchini - made zucchini pancakes
Potatoes
Yellow squash - did this to it
Chard - will cook with garlic
Corn
Cucumber
Mushrooms
Artichokes
Onions
Leeks
Tomatoes
Asparagus
Green pepper
Carrots
Eggplant - baked with spaghetti sauce
Beets

...and then there is fruit.

No power in the 'verse...

State of the 'song

Tonight at yoga, I did this! And then did it standing on my head! Briefly, but I did!

In other news... the detoxing from the Cymbalta is seriously fucking with me. It's reminding me and Adam of how I was on Keppra. I'm not up to describing it right now; I will when it's all over. But I will power through it. And the yoga helps. Part of what's going on is that I'm horribly scattered; yoga helps me focus.

We'll see what else helps. I will keep going.
