I spent a chunk of last night copying and pasting the snippets I've posted here into a Word document, because it is good to have such things together in the same place - and I was astonished to see that I'd written over 10,000 words of the bloody thing. I'll have to look back through my files but, save Shayara, this may be the longest thing I've ever written. I write lots of short stories; my writing style is compact, streamlined. Fluff-free. There's just a hell of a lot of Shayara.
And a hell of a lot of my life.
10K and I've only scratched the surface, and I wasn't even trying, I was just tossing memories up on LJ. I'm actually beginning to think that this could be a book after all.
As to these being nonlinear... unlike my Shayara snippets, Walking on Water is inherently nonlinear. Read them in whatever order you like. I've put them in a rough sort of order in the document, just in the sense that I have dates for a few things, but otherwise - it doesn't really matter where the bit about Hal being unaccustomed to kindness goes in relation to the bit about Stacey and I doing about the grossest thing ever in a fast-food place's bathroom (which may well be the next bit to go on LJ). I was a junkie and was not really keeping track of time; I don't remember and it doesn't matter.
So. There you have it.
