Modesty
During a recent shopping trip to Nordstrom, 11-year-old Ella Gunderson became frustrated with all the low-cut hip-huggers and skintight tops. So she wrote to the Seattle-based chain's executives.
Good for her!
I've bitched about this problem before. All the department stores seem to provide for kids these days is slutwear. I'm no prude, mind you. But my nine-year-old doesn't need to be wearing miniskirts slit up nearly to the hip. Or skintight shirts with words like "hot" or "juicy" emblazoned on them. She's nine years old. And this is all you can find in the kids' 7-12 department. It's disgusting.
I refuse to dress my daughter like a two-dollar hooker.
I'm not exaggerating, either.
manifestress wanted to buy Elayna clothes for her birthday last year - and she was appalled at what they're selling, too. (Ended up getting her a nice grey turtleneck and a craft apron.)
I refuse to make my nine-year-old a sex object.
So I'm glad that other kids are protesting as well. This trend so needs to be reversed.
