So other than rape culture!

Jack. Is still not eating. We force-fed him with a syringe last night and this morning. I am not sure if his belly's distended or I'm being paranoid. He's going in first thing tomorrow for bloodwork to see if the antibiotics, painkillers, and fluids have helped at all. I don't think they have. He will most likely need ultrasounding. I have no idea what that costs. I have not had the spoons to put an auction together. At all. If you're never had "check and see if the cat is still alive" as the first thing on your morning to-do list, I envy you.

Elayna liked Green Mountain College okay; she didn't like University of Vermont at all. Well, we didn't think she would, but she got to kill a few hours there. She's still touring Champlain. She and Adam will be back tonight.

The ultrasound was what ended up saving Rupert's life both times. I dont remember it being any more than a (useless) xray. Good luck!

Random Elayna college thought: in an earlier post, you mentioned she might be interested in early education. If she's looking to go into education, you'll want to try to find out a school's passage rate on state licensing exams. Some schools focus more on theory and less on what students need to know to pass the licensing exam to be allowed to teach. A good school finds a balance between the two. My alma mater, Guilford College, was loooooong on theory and severely short on what was on the licensing exam. Many education grads could not get certified/licensed because they had not been prepared for the exams. (Hopefully, that's changed in the last 15 years...)

Because it may at least make you mile: Friendship is Magic the Gathering. Yes, it exists.

Real quick and in a nutshell: Back in 1998, I had a cat develop Hepatic Lipidosis (fatty liver) from eating a poisonous plant. Long story short, she lost a LOT of weight and thus needed a feeding tube and sub cutaneous fluid injections. Pain in the ass, trust me BUT we got her up and running again and she was eating on her own in about 9 weeks (I think). One of her medications was a combination of Periactin and Reglan. One was for stomach spasms, the other was to increase her appetite. It worked. Fast forward to 2005 when my 95 year old grand aunt wasn't eating and was losing weight. I suggested that medicine combination and sure enough, she was eating again. Just a thought.

So, I haven't been on here in ages and am just catching up on everything. Anyway, I wanted to drop in and say that my roommates and I had a lovely time hosting Adam and Elayna. I hope she enjoyed the school visits and we're happy to provide additional crash space or anything else as needed.

Thank you, and thank you for hosting them. She loved Champlain, so it was totally worth it!
