I have a question and a comment!

Here is my question, o New England LJ.

I have a reading/signing/Q&A at Annie's Books in Worcester on August 16, which is a Thursday (the Thursday before nearby PiCon, at which I am Guest of Awesome).

Said reading is scheduled for 6pm, but the bookstore folks are cool with moving it to 7pm so people in Boston have more time to get out there.

People who might go to this: 7's better, right? We should go with 7? Please let me know!

(I have two hours there and a one-hour reading at PiCon, and I am Planning Big Things for these. You want to go to there.)

And my comment, which is totally unrelated - Judah's Kikori CNC is on EnGadget! Yay! They interviewed him and he'll be on Engadget TV. This is but a preview.

And the Sindrian Arts store is up! You can buy a Kikori, or various sets of parts for one! Please pass that along!

I think 7 pm is a better time even if you expected only local Worcester-area people to show up. A 6 pm event means people are rushing to it from work without dinner.

Most readings I see around Boston are scheduled for 7 pm. See for instance Harvard Book Store calendar, Porter Square Books calendar, Brookline Booksmith calendar.

Our adult library events usually start at 7ish. 7's good.

The surface streets of Worcester are hideous near rush hour. 7 is much better than 6.

Also, 7 on a Thursday is something I can do from New Haven, 6 really isn't, so there's some selfishness involved.

(If I possibly can, I will).

Yay! <3 Any chance that you might come to PiCon? It's fun! (It's tiny!)

You know, I really have no excuse. I shall give it a try. Is it a fandom con or literary? I might be able to marshal some gamers if it's fandom.

It's fandom; closer to Arisia than REadercon in style, but writ really small. There's no game room, but there's a lobby!

Then I think I can convince some people!

Wait, maybe there is? The new website lists gaming. http://pi-con.org/

Hmm.

We did actually change the event to 7pm on our end. I think the original thought behind 6pm to 8pm was so that you wouldn't be such a tired 'song the next day. But Trish and I agree that 7pm is usually a better start time for evening events.

We are very, very much looking forward to hosting you here at the store!

Oh, good! :) That' one of those things that was sitting in my e-mail forever...

Thanks for having me! :)

Hi. Do you have a regular schedule of author events? I looked on your store's website but did not find this.
18th-Jun-2012 03:22 pm (UTC)
Hi Ron! We do indeed have a fairly full schedule of events this summer.

The website we are using right now is a clunky one which makes it difficult for me to add things. We intend to transition to another within the next month.

Thanks. Is your schedule available online somewhere else?

Thanks! You'll now need to edit Shira's time to be 7-9 pm. (If, that is, Facebook lets you edit it at all.)

Fixed!

Heh. Maybe this time people could dine at Sole afterwards, if they want :P

Or the Boynton across the street from the Sole, which does have some gluten-free stuff that Shira could eat.

What GF stuff do they have aside from the pizza, do you know? I don't dine there often.

I'd have to look it up. I've not been in a position to dine out in some time.
