That being a question I get asked a lot! So here's what's up!
Essentially, the last series of Strowler events were paid for almost completely on K's credit cards. We quite understandably need that to not happen again.
So the Strowler Arts Foundation is being formed. We're still working on exactly what that's going to look like (I'm the secretary of the Board of Directors woohoo). But it is going to be a 501(c)3 nonprofit, because that is how you get some nice big arts grants. When it comes time to put on StrowlerCon again, we'll likely presell tickets through Kickstarter like Kim Boekbinder is doing
to make sure our expenses are covered in advance. But the foundation is going to be doing a lot of bonus awesomeness, so we need a non-Kickstarter funding source for that.
We're Almost There with incorporation, et cetera
. I've been waiting to talk about it til that was done, but enough people are asking that I will tell you that it's in progress.
StrowlerCon was a big amazing life-changer for a lot of us. It will happen again, hopefully in 2012, and it will hopefully happen every year thereafter. We just need to get funding in order. :)
In the meantime, I will (if we can lock in a venue) be running monthly strowler/interstitial salons! More info on that when I have it, but we're hoping to start this fall.
