* Home safe from Pi-Con! sindrian and I left around 3:30 and had no problems getting back. Irene was pretty much a non-event at Pi-Con (although the winds peaked as I was doing my reading, which was pretty cool) and in our part of Watertown.

* Now it can be told: I am Guest of Awesome at next year's Pi-Con!

* Had a wonderful con that I will tell you about over the next few days.

* But fuck you, Olive Garden, for contaminating my dinner last night.

* Have a pinched nerve or muscle spasm or something right at-and-below my right shoulderblade, with numb fingertips, so I'm not typing any more right now. Just: home safe and happy (except for aforementioned pain and glutening).

Congratulations, Guest of Awesome! And, of course, to your host.

Huzzah!

(And honestly, I would never have expected Olive Garden to NOT contaminate.)

So you would never go to any restaurant ever, if diagnosed?

*arched eyebrow*

Where would you get that from? Let alone the numerous restaurants that advertise they can handle gluten free, I would expect lots of restaurants to be quite good at it.

From previous experience, Olive Garden is sloppy, bad at handling allergies and food restrictions, and willing to simply lie to the customer as long as they spend money.

They do have a gluten-free menu and advertise that they can handle gluten-free and food allergies, so... no red flags existed. If we automatically distrust even restaurants with GF menus, what is there left but to never go to restaurants?

I had no idea they had advertised as gluten free now. Yeah, in that case, that is just extra suck.

My criticism is not of gluten free-advertising restaurants. It is specifically of Olive Garden, which even when it used to say it could handle food restrictions, routinely ignored them in the past.

Congrats on your Official Awesome Status. (Seriously, one of these years we need to make shirts.)
