Hello to new reader rose_lemberg!

State of the 'Song
The nausea persists; yay me? Also exhaustion, but at least I can nap today. And that may be attributable to uneven sleep.

So nu
My last day of dayjob was the 8th, but with Elayna and her Explo prep all last week and Adam home yesterday, this is really the first day I've had in my soon-to-be-new schedule. So mostly I'll be figuring out what I want my days to look like. I will probably be talking more about this later, once I've had awake-time to think about it!

Sindrian's Kickstarter
12 days left! Have you looked at his incentives/rewards? Is there anything else you'd like him to offer? Anything I can offer? We are all ears!

Link Soup
* sindrian's is not the only cool Kickstarter - kynn has a nifty RPG idea.
* Y'all. I would love to go to a knitting con. But $600 is ridiculous.
* chimera_fancies has Welcome to Bordertown pendants!

Daily Science
NASA's Dawn spacecraft has returned the first close-up image after beginning its orbit around the giant asteroid Vesta. On Friday, July 15, Dawn became the first probe to enter orbit around an object in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Plans
As said above, figuring out what my schedule ought to be! I'll probably be doing a lot of activity-logging this week to see how I'm using my time. Just - very new. I don't yet know if I'm going to Diesel tonight - probably not, unless sindrian wants to go. I'm still in post-con recovery mode.

Yeah, knitting retreats and cons tend to be really expensive. This is because a lot of them are either put on by the companies instead of fans, or because they're really trade shows meant for professionals and not really us. Or because they're set up more like camps than cons, so a lot more is included. It's a thing.

I was going to say, that pricing looks like professional conference rates, not a fan-run convention.

The pricing on class hours is competitive with NYC class rates - moreso when you get into more class hours.

Even at knitting shows that are cheap to get in the door (like Rhinebeck) the classes are pricey.

OTOH, Rhinebeck is awesome because it's a short drive from a state campground, where, if you bring your own tents, it only costs $30/campsite/night. Far better deal than any of the hotels within a hundred fifty miles of Rhinebeck on that weekend :)
