Okay! People who want to make things for the Blogathon auction!

Here is your crafters' guide. You need not feel beholden to that. You don't have to make a blue shield-shaped object, for example. Pretty much anything you make I can tie in somehow, so look that over, but make a thing that speaks to you. Each item will have a corresponding storybit written for it during the 'thon!

For the new kids: Blogathon is July 30-31, and is me posting here every half hour for 24 hours. I also run a weeklong auction. All sponsorships and all auction monies go directly to BARCC! Be a part of an awesome thing for a great cause!

This post is here for you to tell me if you're going to make something and what you think you're going to make, just so we don't have two dozen of the same thing.

Here are some examples of auction items! 2009 and 2010 (apparently I didn't tag anything in '08). We've had jewelry, knitted things, food, music, art, and so much more. If you make it, I would love to auction it! :) There'll be 48 posts, and I am, as usual, aiming for 48 items, so yeah, we can use you. :)

So drop a comment below if you want to play!

Yay! I love those!

I am pondering knitting a thing for each of the seven Great Houses. This may be a terrible plan. We shall see.

*grin* Thank you. :) Logically, I may get three or four done. I already know I want to do dragonscale-y wristwarmers for Ziroth.

Can I still submit auction items, or would you prefer things to be hand-crafted-ooak-by-the-person-submitting?

I would auction an iPod if someone donated one, and find a way to tie it into Kieran's dance habit. :)

Also, if I have small-ish things, such as a pocket amulet with certain of the houses' animal totems (though not every house, unfortunately), would you be able to auction them separately, or would they need to go together in one lot?

Separately is fine!

Love it!
13th-May-2011 05:40 pm (UTC) - Wow.
That's a really amazing piece of work. I love how the die took to it! Color me highly impressed.

I'm also game...now that my life has leveled out a bit, and even though I still owe people items from when they helped me out last year.

I'm thinking a laptop bag, probably green with a cat appliqued on or a purple one with a wolf since those two totems appeal strongly to me.

If you can find something on the website that fits, you're welcome to it. I am too overbooked to make something specifically, and too sleep-deprived to figure out what might fit. :p

I will ponder this, but probably count me in.

There will probably be some sort of purple knit kerchief sent your way. I think some non-wedding related knitting will be good for me.

No other real way to tie it into House L'Arath, but purple's what I got in the stash!

I am knitting a green furry rectangle. I *think* it will be completed in time. It's currently the only thing eating my knitting hours, so with luck....

You still have my offer for two $25 (or one $50) credit(s) to meitaicarrier.com. :) Not sure how it would tie in, though. :/

I found a LOVELY charcoal grey at Webs, so I'll be doing a Holden Shawlette for House Lhri'nahr.

Might still make another piece, we'll see.

I will be making a thing or things, almost certainly key jewelry as usual. The house colors/symbols writeup is very helpful, and I'll probably be doing one or more house-themed key pendants.
16th-May-2011 01:59 am (UTC) - Floggers and other fun things
I've got at least one flogger (and possibly another), and a pair of cuffs to contribute.

Late to reply, but I'd love to participate again this year! I can contribute a fliptop mitten and hat set by Ysolda Teague, and probably a lace stole or shawl.

If I were to make a small lacy thing, do you care what color it would be? Are there houses you're short of things for?

(I think I'm going to be making a small lacy something to see how I like a particular yarn before I start a big project with it, and if I'm going to be making a test piece I thought I'd donate it so it can go to a good home and help raise money along the way. And also since it's a test piece I don't care what color I do as long as it's something I can stand to look at for the duration of the knitting--and that doesn't rule out many colors at all.)
