Happy birthday to azhure, crisavec, kythryne, and mendoza!

State of the 'Song
Slept in. (Enforced comp day.) That's weird. Still sort of shuffling around the house. Should get showered soon and get myself into working headspace.

Things and Stuff
I have a lot of big thinky posts germinating, but will have no time to do 'em if I don't get moving.

Link Soup
* Manila Luzon, Drag, and the Politics of Self-Orientalization.
* What the hell, NYT?

Daily Science
Celiac disease vaccine shows promising results in Phase I trial.

Plans
I have a ton of stuff to do on the internets. Also writing. Also around the house. Must dash!

Tried to read NYT thing. Can't. Couldn't get past "he totally said she did it." I take it the NYT was not neutral?

Indeed.

They keep doing that shit. Fired.

but I fail to see the problem. The reporter reiterates quotes from the testimony. The story notes that the testifying officer failed to deal with an important piece of evidence that was already introduced.

In what way is the way this story is being reported problematic?

Have to say I agree. It was a day of him giving evidence, so that's what they're reporting on. She's not giving evidence yet, so how are they supposed to make the report any more balanced than it is?

When the trial moves on to the plaintiff giving her evidence, and instead of the full coverage given here the NYT only gives it two lines, *then* it's time to call bullshit.

Hang, that's back to front, isn't it? Plaintiff goes first, I think?

So the question, then, is did they give similarly thorough coverage to her evidence, or not.
