The hall is polished stone and metal, a deep blue that absorbs sound and light, banded by brass around lapis columns. It echoes strangely. Muffles sound. It feels like a much smaller place than it is.
You cannot see the end of the hall. You no longer remember where you entered, or when. You only remember your shoes sliding on this slick floor, until you remove them and go barefoot. There is a chill in the floor that numbs your feet, makes them tingle unpleasantly. You keep walking, because there is nothing else to do; there is nowhere to sit, nowhere to sleep, no rest to be had, just endless miles of cold beauty, ornate brass spirals cascading down the walls.
You try singing, but the walls swallow that as well, leave you feeling a bit embarrassed, chastened, shushed. Music is not a part of this place. You are not a part of this place.
You wonder, in the scraps of time that you remember that this is someone's old retreat. You wonder what purpose this place served. You wonder if there was screaming that required this hall to mute it. You wonder if there was impossible heat that required this chill.
You are beginning to wonder what came first, the elsewhere itself or the person who fled there. Did you shape yourself to your world, or did it shape itself to you?Byzantium necklace and earrings set

! The chain is copper-plated, lead-safe brass, which according to the supplier means it meets California's Lead-Containing Jewelry Law. The cabochon settings are antiqued gold-plated brass, not labeled lead-safe. The knotwork connectors are made of pewter. The connecting links are probably just brass. The blue cabochons are fiber optic/cat's eye glass, and the other blue beads are Czech fire-polished glass.Click here to bid on auction items!
