Happy early birthday to bettybaker, sterling_raptor, lyssrose, storme, and sylverice2, who all advance a year over the weekend!

Hello to new readers apexmachina, chesyaburke, and tacky_tramp!

State of the 'Song
Well, I only woke up twice last night. Which is better than the night before. Yay?

Blogathon
Just a reminder for people donating items: the auction begins Monday, so if I get your pieces any later than that and I don't have photos and descriptions of them by Sunday, I can't run 'em. If your item will be here later, e-mail me and we can try to figure something out.

Locals with stuff to drop off: I won't be in town tomorrow, but Adam will; please wait til afternoon, though, because he's taking the redeye home from CA and will likely want a nap.

Friday Memeage
Wearing: Green crinkly top, ivory skirt with big green flowers and beading. Hey, I walk to/from work. Therefore I wear skirts in the summer.
Reading: Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris, Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men, by Michael Kimmel.
Writing: "Between Truth and Life".
Knitting: Yes, yet another baby blanket. For once, I only have one project on the needles. Must pick another small project.
Planning:
Today: I have to wrap up this story after work. Tonight, the Jonathan Coulton concert with feste_sylvain. Anyone up for an ice cream run after that?
Tomorrow: I am swashbucklr's date to a wedding somewhere out in the vague mythical part of Massachusetts outside 128. Is there life beyond the Hub?
Sunday: Crunch time for the auction. Possibly calling people frantically to come over and borrow their internet if my connection is still too slow to upload the pics. Auction goes live first thing Monday; we are out of wiggle room.

You?

Is there life beyond the Hub?

My continued existence out here says so! It's true, I would not lie!

Well, not about that, anyway. Though it is pretty mythic out here.

It is pretty mythical out here. Just... last year? year before last?... there was a sighting of a capybara in a nearby pond. And a house a few blocks away had a moose swimming in their pool.

Haven't yet seen 1) the Dover Demon, 2) giant prehistoric owls, or 3) Bigfoot.

I've not seen physical evidence of your continuing existence in... over a year. I disbelieve!

nomadmwe is imaginary. I know, I went to college with him!

LOL re: life outside the Hub! (she said, posting from the wilds of Northern CT)

That was a really a great post. I'm sure I'm not the only one who benefited greatly from seeing that everyone else is just as quirky about sex as I am, some of theme even in the same ways! ;-)
23rd-Jul-2010 01:49 pm (UTC) - Libraries as the next big thing
Technically I think this is set in an independent bookstore, but it gets the right general idea across: Lots of books, beautiful people (to my tastes, at any rate), the classic "take off glasses/let down hair" move...

This establishment was reviewed in the Boston Globe on Wednesday, and I wanted to let you know in case you weren't familiar with it:

ALL-CANEAT Foods Cafe & Bakery

"Everything in this bakery is 100 percent gluten-, soy-, nut- and sesame-free."

Song!

Have you seen this blog? http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

She still puts up recipes from time to time, but her resolution in 2008 was to make something in her crock pot EVERY DAY all year long.

Moreover? They're just about ALL gluten-free. She has a daughter with celiac (poor baby was throwing up a few times a week before she was diagnosed when she was 2 o.O) so they run a mostly gluten-free household.

Yep! We have her cookbook, too. :)
