Happy birthday to gumboeditor and lrstrobel!

The weekend has helped me tremendously. Unfortunately, Adam's way sick.

Dear Boston LARPers
mllelaurel and wired_lizard's game "Bard of Avalon" doesn't currently have enough people to run. And. You guys. This game is the reason Elayna and I are going. Come play! Register here. It's free. You like free.

Description: ""The Bard of Avalon" depicts an uncannily familiar dance of marriages and betrayals among the Faerie Courts and contains plotlines from ALL of Shakespeare's plays. The game is recommended for players teenage and older. Familiarity with the source material is useful but not required." (Longer description at site.)

We may have a slot open in our reading. Any WisCon writerfriends still need a reading slot? No guarantees, as that slot may not actually be open! But do tell me. Preference given to people who are silly like me and csecooney. You don't have to be *as* silly. No one is.

Also! I need help manning the Interstitial Arts Foundation table during the Gathering! It's just being perky and dispensing cookies and talking about the IAF.

Friendslisty Stuff
I've been gradually trimming for a bit now and may continue doing so; rest assured that it is nothing personal, it's just a time factor. And you know I almost never post anything friends-only anyway, so you're not missing anything.

Link Soup
* I post a link to ScriptFrenzy just because of the random plot generator there.
* Want to host a Marian Call house concert?
* Action Alert: Nazia Quazi. Canadian woman essentially held hostage by her father in Saudi Arabia.
* Question two is part of why I feel like I need to reassure people that feminism doesn't mean I am a humorless hyperacademic. Just fuck, honey. If you don't feel degraded, it's not degrading (for you). You don't always need the politics in the boudoir. Just have fun.
* Gorgeous. And I kinda really want a print of it.

Daily Science
Research concludes there is no 'simple theory of everything' inside the enigmatic E8. I post this at least half because I know the researcher.

Not-So-Daily Scent-Stuff

C'Est Fini: Golden honey, raspberry, fig leaf, sweet myrrh and bay.
In bottle: Dessert! Mostly berry-honey.
On me: Berryhoneymyrrh, but mostly berry. Will have to wait for the drydown to see if it's too berry for me, because that is a lot of berry. Hm, on drydown... raspberry sorbet.

Melt With You: Cocoa absolute, coffee bean, tobacco absolute, and a blend of vanilla creams and sugars.
In bottle: Chocolate coffee truffle!
On me: Aw yeah. Delicious. The tobacco is faint; it's almost all decadent truffle goodness.

Tainted Love: Red musk, South American musk, oakmoss absolute, tobacco absolute, Bourbon vanilla, vetiver, matcha tea and a touch of anise.
In bottle: ...I like the notes individually, but together something is weird.
On me: Yeah no. I think it's mostly matcha tea? It doesn't do it for me.

Kelpie: Soft, milky black tea darkened with dry cocoa and aged patchouli.
In bottle: Cocoa with grit.
On me: Yep, same. Is nice. I like.

Work - and today's the day I blocked off on my Google calendar as HOME. So. HOME. I will hopefully get writing done. I will definitely get the more active house stuff done (I deliberately had a sedentary weekend). Main goal housewise: seasonal closet changeover, and getting Elayna to finish with her room. If I don't end up napping because I only got 4 hours of sleep because Adam snores twice as terribly when he's sick.

Aw!! Thank you!!

That Flickr color wheel is amazing. A nice respite after my own color-coded apocalyptic dreams of last night. :)

That flickr thing is awesome!

Also, Breathe Right strips are awesome. It took my husband a few nights to find the right placement for it, but once he did, they helped a fair bit--not near so much snoring, and less choking in his sleep. Has Adam tried them?

He says they don't work. :(

Will insurance cover a sleep study? The results of one have been awesome for that guy I married -- he now sleeps better, feels better, has more energy, is overall less cranky, and the same is true for me now that he doesn't snore anymore.

Another voice here recommending a sleep study for Adam - it's one of my first things I need to do when I get health insurance again. Also, hope Adam gets well soon.

"The Bard of Avalon" sounds excellent. Unfortunately, I'm not in Boston. :-\

Thanks for the Marian Call house concert link. I'm trying to start up a singer-songwriter venue in our cohousing common space. I'd like it to be a monthly thing, but am just starting up after dreaming of it last night. Were you out planting seeds young lady?!?

Is there a 'Song Meet-up' at WisCon? Should there be?
29th-Mar-2010 05:54 pm (UTC)
Feel free to plan one!
29th-Mar-2010 07:03 pm (UTC)
Is there a time YOU want such a thing to happen?
29th-Mar-2010 07:04 pm (UTC)
Don't have my schedule yet and thus cannot answer, alas.
29th-Mar-2010 08:15 pm (UTC)
You know that you're making this slowly morph from "simple scheduling task" to "must be greatly creative to achieve success"... I'm good at either but I have to warn you the products of the later method are either wildly successful or just the opposite. At this moment I'm seeing a "rolling meet 'Song" event that lasts all weekend and only "lights up" when you want to see people. Perhaps on twitter. Of course, that would mean I'd have to become a twit... which I've been meaning to do for around a year.

I'll know before the con!

Ah! For some reason I thought they'd written it.
