Is this larger or smaller than usual?

Cup size unaltered, band size much smaller; I was a 36DD before I lost weight. I *thought* I'd lost cup size too, but apparently not so much. Or I was bigger than DD before and didn't know it.

Basically, this means I just cannot walk into a store and buy a bra. Special-order only.

I hear you. 36DDD over here. Lady Grace carries weird-ass sizes like ours, if you've got one nearby...

There is one nearby actually, Song, there's a Lady Grace in the shopping center in Waltham on River St, I can give you more specific directions or whatever if you want to give it a try.

I can't remember the last time I could walk into a store and buy a bra. Ugh.

I understand totally. 38HH. There is one store that carries my size in Houston, but they never have anything that works for me.

This is why I haven't gone bra-shopping in a while. I just don't want to know.

Sport bras are my friend. They are the only thing I can walk into a store & buy.
14th-Mar-2010 09:33 pm (UTC)
Love ya but no sympathy. 36H here.
14th-Mar-2010 09:34 pm (UTC) - Taking in?
I might have some DD bras that you can have the band taken in. That might be cheaper than buying new. Do you wear underwires?

That is unlikely to work, sadly, because the cup volume measurement is relative to the band size measurement. I don't know what your band size is, but the cups are likely to be way bigger than what shadesong needs as a 32" band size.

I have the opposite problem. I'm a 36A. In fact, I'm less than an A in many bra styles. But my band size is larger than most women with an A, I suspect because I've been a singer since high school - my rib cage is large from all that expanding my lungs to sing and the larger lung capacity I developed as a result.

So I have a dilly of a time finding bras that fit me, too. And when I do, you can bet I buy several in that style.

36DDDD...but I usually find that 40C will work in a pinch and not fit too badly...

'Song: I am gonna need to check that myself to make sure, OK?
14th-Mar-2010 11:34 pm (UTC)
I'm totally feeling that...

32-34DD here. Feel your pain. Used to be 34H/I when I first started nursing. Don't miss that overmuch.

Just a note - I was fitted to that size last time I went to Nordstroms and bought two serviceable bras there.

The only bad is that they were expensive, but excellent bras are.

15th-Mar-2010 01:01 am (UTC) - ah yes
but do not do what my ex did. At one point she complained "I just want to have a single letter in my bra size" She was thinking a single D. Turns out she had been wearing her bras VERY wrong (and even small) as she was not indeed a 34DD but a 32F. I didn't even have to say anything when she told me...
