A friend and BARCC colleague just sent me the following:

Co-worker's apt burned down; mother of 5 kids. Total loss & no renters insurance. Kids have no clothes: 4 girls, 1 boy. Boy is 2 & takes 2-3t. Girls range from 9mo-9yrs. Contact me if you're able to donate clothes!

Comment here and I'll help coordinate. Thanks for any help you can provide! I'll update as I get more info.

Does the Salvation Army donate clothing to causes like this one? I would suggest calling them to see if they do.

Probably not efficient to send clothes from oCal - what gift cards would be useful out there?

SoCal, I mean.

I have a bunch of size 5/6 boys clothes but I bet enough are gender neutral that they can use them We also have spare sweatshirts and maybe some snow boots.

I have 5 or 6 trash (those really big trash bags too!) of clothes in our 'mud room', that I've been figuring out what to do with.

Admittedly, most of them might be a little big, even for the nine year old, but the mother can have any of them, or all of them.

Let me know!

I have a small bag of boys/unisex 3T clothes. And a crate of 3T clothes earmarked for whuffle's little boy; I can ask her if I can pass it this way instead.

I may have some things I can help with, but Im not sure how to get them to her from WA state. When you have contact info include me on the list so I can ship clothing if I can please. Also, the mother: what does she have/need for herself? Might have things there too.

I do have some random girls clothes in sizes baby to 9, but I'm not sure the next time that one of us will be heading down to your area. Is this a next few days thing or will the need continue for a few weeks?

You're on a mutual friend's list, and I saw this; does the mother need any clothes? By a wonderful happenstance, I have family from the Boston area coming to visit for the holidays, and could potentially send things back up with them.

I'd happily donate via paypal, since that's probably more practical than trying to find and send clothes. Do keep us up to date if we can help...
