Elayna - Oct08
Elayna yesterday: Black v-neck tee with purple ribcage "spray-painted" on, purple & black checked skirt with lace trim, purple knee-highs with skulls, black Mary Janes, purple & black houndstooth scarf.

Elayna today: Sheer purple-print wrap shirt, handkerchief-hem purple glittery skirt (dollar a pound!), black & white striped knee-highs, slouchy black boots, ponytail holder with purple/glittery/eyelash/novelty yarn tied onto it.

She is so 21st-century Claudia Kishi! And I think we have an official color for freshman year.

*laughs* my daughter (age 16) is in her 2nd day of Sr. Year and wore - black doc mary janes, pastel vertical stripey otk socks, a white handkerchief skirt(w. black under armour...lol), and an orange t-shirt and a rainbow ribbon in her hair. Sounds like they have somewhat similar tastes!

Her school allows stuff with skulls on it??? Out here (Arizona) anything with skulls is verboten - BIG time!

Go Elayna! You rock :)

Her school has a cemetery literally in its backyard.

The only dress restrictions tend to revolve around amount of skin shown (no backless shirts, skirts shorter than fingertip length, etc). The only on-clothing restrictions are obscenities, racist or sexist stuff, or drug/alcohol promotion.

Same here, only hoodies are also forbidden (gangs).

Both outfits sound adorable! We need more Baby Bats who know how to do things properly...

(Also loving the BSC reference :)

She's got a great sense of style.

Grandma said to go to Kohl's, so we found some good deals for the kids and tried to keep under budget. Most of what Bree picked out were purple and teal, in a variety of styles. I was surprised by the women's preppy shirts, though, but they look cute on her. She found a lot of clothes that she liked, especially the Avril Lavigne line. (We'll be going back soon for the teal koi kanji shirt, for example.)

All of her accessories related to a theme, as it turns out. I just can't remember everything she had on.

Bree yesterday: Tokyo theme
light brown tee with tattoo tiger and kanji
black trousers
cat necklace (like Elayna's)
assorted beaded bracelets (Japanese cities)
butterfly hair clips
hair tucked behind ears, chin-length, slightly longer in front than back
"J-pop princess!"

Bree today: Purple preppy
short-sleeve purple collared shirt/ coordinating argyle sweater vest
purple butterfly clips
black trousers
hair divided in half, pulled into ponytail
"I look like a mini-teacher!"
