* *crickets* Yeah, I know, no one knows "Jorinda and Joringel". What can I say? It was formative for me. Gwyn and I are poking around the obscure fairy tales here.

* My landline appears to be functional again. We'll see how long that lasts.

* I forgot to mention Elayna's thoughts on high school so far! Okay, it's only one day, but she likes it. :) Especially her history teacher, and the fact that she gets to be with one of her best (older) friends in band, as it's not grade-segregated. Lots of clubs she's interested in, too - the GSA, IDS (which is still a mystery, but her sophomore & junior friends are in it), drama, a capella, the radio station...

* I do love that, when listing what makes me A Catch, the first thing I list is that I am smart. And around here, that totally is a hotness. I love Boston.

Yeah, I know, no one knows "Jorinda and Joringel".

Oh wow... I'd forgotten that one. The flower with the pearl was a strong but vague memory. I couldn't quite place where it was from.

Heh. Perhaps I should consider moving to Boston.

No one knows Juniper Tree, either, or One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes.

Boston sounds like a lovely, mythical place. 'Round these parts I get looked at a little suspiciously for being smart.

I love Juniper Tree! I have a collection that's called Juniper Tree, actually (and I think it has Jorinda & Joringel in it, too). I, too, was raised on classic fairy tales. :)

The Juniper Tree! That story genuinely terrified me when I was a child. Bones in silk... gods...

Your daughter's highschool has a freakin' radio station? ... that's awesome.

And a cable TV studio. That's been defunct for lack of interest, but she and her friends are definitely interested!

waaaay coolness. I mean, seriously that's just too awesome for words.

what does she play in band, btw?
9th-Sep-2009 04:42 pm (UTC)
Flute. She also sings.

I have seen her speak and sing in video with the s00j, of course. she's got potential and a large helping of talent.

Ah, a flautist. tsk, tsk, tsk. such a shame. I'd assumed someone that cool, and awesome enough to be your daughter would play the sax.

Hey, she's only 14. Plenty of time to pick up another instrument!

that's true, I suppose, but a flautist is a flautist for life.

Oh, Jorinda and Joringel is one of my VERY FAVORITES! One eye, two eyes, and three eyes is another lovely one if you're looking for obscurity.

Actually...I know "Jorinda and Joringel" (or at least remember the title). I just haven't gotten there yet.

*recognized the fairy tale*

*High school sounds cool so far. Depending on where Bree goes, I am not sure what clubs will be offered. As for this year, just hoping that Bree gets involved in chorus and stuff outside of classes.

*Still love Boston. Still want to move back, but most likely would happen if I bought a boat and could spend time each year in Florida. That's our plan for once the kids graduate.
