Undecided! I will not be at Arisia, and others will depend...

Where Else am I?
You can find me at Facebook. You can be my fan there, too. I'm also on Tumblr, Twitter and Ravelry. Not on MySpace. :)

Thank you! :)

Hi, this is random and you don't know me, but I follow Sooj's journal and the swc_fan's journal. I posted a question to Sooj and was directed to asking you. I hope you don't mind. I am in a creative writing club at my college and a friend of mine was wondering how to go about getting published. He isn't looking to do it right this moment but he is working on getting his transcript together and he wanted some advice or help, so I thought I would try to get some for him if I could. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.
4th-Mar-2009 10:28 pm (UTC)
Meep! Hello. :)

What sort of thing is your friend looking to get published? Short stories and poetry are altogether different from novels, and articles, essays, and nonfiction books are very different, too...
4th-Mar-2009 10:56 pm (UTC)
From what I can tell it would be a novel, he's aiming it towards the teenager group, at least as far as what info I have.
4th-Mar-2009 11:00 pm (UTC)
'k. I'm less helpful there! :) Basically, he should be looking up what agents represent the type of thing he's writing (YA or middle grade, fantasy/sci-fi or not). The agents are the gatekeepers, so far as novels go. (I don't have a finished novel yet; all of my hands-on experience here is re: short stories and poetry.)

1. Want story-by-sub offer when it comes up, so I'm friending you.

2. Your good work on the saveours00j auction was legendary, so I was going to ask if you'd be willing to make that electronic archive available again as a fixed donation offer for con_or_bust, which is trying to help fans of color with financial difficulties make it to wiscon. If you can't, that's okay: I thought it was a neat offer, though, and wish I'd gotten tos end you my receipt, I just forgot. :d

Thanks again for all you do.
12th-Mar-2009 03:31 pm (UTC)
Oh hai! *waves* I'll be meeting you soon...

And absolutely. There'll also be a hardcopy version of it Real Soon Now, so I can throw that in. I'll have to think on what else I can do.
12th-Mar-2009 03:38 pm (UTC)
Sweet. If you will, go ahead and joint he comm and tell your people; auction doesn't open until next week, and you don't have to preview items if you're still pondering.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! Just read "The Angel of Fremont Street", on shveta_thakrar's recommendation, and wanted to say I loved it. Chilling and beautiful. And the reason Elizabeth is the way she is... both surprised me and was perfect in retrospect.

Thank you :)
20th-Mar-2009 09:23 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much - I'm so glad you liked it! :)
8th-Apr-2009 06:55 pm (UTC)
The link to "About a Girl" isn't working. If it was a limited edition, I think it's no longer there.
26th-May-2009 03:04 pm (UTC)
Didn't you used to have a Cast of Characters page?

There's got to be a better way to construct the above sentence, by the way, but I don't know it. Do you?
26th-May-2009 03:11 pm (UTC)
I did used to! It was unwieldly and I kept forgetting to update it, though.
26th-May-2009 03:14 pm (UTC)
Well darn, then! Oh well, the only person I'm ever wondering about is your birthmom, and that's less a character question than a history question. Ur adopted?

I am, for no discernible reason, quite interested in adoption stories.
30th-May-2009 04:16 pm (UTC)
I r adopted, yes. :)

Short version: She got pregnant when she was 16, had a sick mom to take care of who didn't want her to keep me, it was the '70s so not many options for help. So. She put me up for adoption. She found me when I was 24, and we've been going there for Christmas ever since!
30th-May-2009 09:36 pm (UTC)
That's very cool. I'm always happy to read stories of searches with happy endings.

Hi there! Cap'n bodhifox said that you and I are birds of a feather and should meet.
Anyone who lists quotes from both Leonard Cohen and Foetus is golden in my book.;)

So...Hi! I'm Gwyndyn. Incest survivor, Katrina survivor, published poet, Professional Bad Influence.

I'm kinda amazed we haven't crossed paths before now, seeing as we have so many friends in common. Glad to finally meet you!

Hi

I come by way of ysabetwordsmith. I am working on a birthday promotion project which you can read about here. By way of her suggestion, you've made it to the roll call. I thought you would want to know.
6th-Aug-2009 02:35 pm (UTC)
Oh, nifty! Thanks!

Will hopefully be doing a crowdfunded project next week...
7th-Aug-2009 01:41 pm (UTC)
Cool. Make sure I don't miss it. I want to promote it.
30th-Sep-2009 10:26 pm (UTC)
I have a question for you totally unrelated to any of your recent entries, so I thought I'd stick it here...My dad was recently prescribed Neurontin/Gabapentin, which is commonly used as an anti-seizure med, for pain relief related to nerve damage. I wondered if you had ever taken it and if so, what kind of effects you had from it.
3rd-Oct-2009 01:20 pm (UTC)
Not Neurontin, but Lyrica, which is closely chemically related... I gained weight, thought slower, was tired.

This is a good site.

Luck to him!

Hello, popping over because sionainn reccomended that I friend you, because you live in Boston, and I will be moving there in 19 days.

Well, technically to Brookline, for grad school, but that's close to Boston. But yes, I know absolutely nobody there right now.
13th-Aug-2010 02:57 pm (UTC)
Well-met! Which school, and what will you be studying?

Lightning-fast Brookline restaurant recommendation: You must eat at Zaftig.
13th-Aug-2010 04:35 pm (UTC)
I'll be at Holy Cross Hellenic, getting a masters in Theological Studies, as well as one in Byzantine Studies, because I'm indecisive.

Zaftig? Interesting name. Tell me more!

(more importantly, is there a good used bookstore in town? I will go crazy if there isn't one.)
13th-Aug-2010 04:36 pm (UTC)
You are moving to Used Bookstore Heaven. If not Brookline exactly, all over the Boston area.

Hallo!

This is Michelle, the redhead who was vending K's keys at Strowlercon. Just added you!

Touching upon your interests:

(David Mitchell talks about a phrase that, IMHO, is part of the cultural giggle loop that keeps people in the UK from taking the word "rape" seriously, until they're forced to.)

Thought I would drop you a note about a first year con happening in October. GeekGirlCon http://www.geekgirlcon.com/

I know your life is always busy, but this seemed right up your alley. :)

Oh, I wish! This one's less about busy and more about broke, alas...
28th-Dec-2014 05:11 am (UTC) - a story you wrote years ago
It still haunts me and I cannot find it from the link I had (livejournal likes to renumber account pages every now and then, rendering links useless). It was about a cat and the apocalypse. Any chance you still have that somewhere?
tia!
and happy holidays
